Is it OK to just quote the bible on this one for the sake of clarification? It says that in order to come to God you must first meet two criteria.

1: Believe that He exists.
2: Believe He rewards of those who will diligently seek him.

I think this means you can start with belief in God without pre-determined details. Something like He, them or "It" is "out there" somewhere but really no clues as to exactly who or what is God. But then you must take step #2 and begin to seek Him and fill in the blanks, with an expectation that He will reveal Himself.

That's what it says anywhew.

I think christians are pretty rediculous. If I told a christian I believed in ghosts they'd think im crazy, even though they basically do the same thing. Every christian ive ever asked "how can you prove that god exists?" they ALWAYS say the same exact thing lol. They say "well just look around you...look at how complexed our eyes and bodies are. " I think its just backwards logic, because as most scientists have said...if you took a grain of sand off the beach...that would be the actual amount of knowledge we as people actually know. To try to devise any sort or religion out of this small knowledge we have is illogical. Of course people want to have an afterlife to look foreward to, but I think if your good in this life that you shouldnt have to follow a corrupt religion to get into heaven. If your a good person that should be a religion itself, and the best part is theres no bible needed. You lead yourself through life and pull your own life together, instead of always looking for something supernatural. I dont doubt the fact that theres a higher power, but I do realize the fact that christians are just as vulnerable to sin as anyone else. Theres happy atheists and pretty unhappy christians, how can anyone be right? The fact of the matter is....theres nothing we could do in this life to make us fully understand where we're going to go when we die. We will never know till we experience it. I myself hope that theres something better than this, but at the same time I know it could be alot worse than this. I try to cherish my life but I know that im a good person and do the right thing, so I shouldnt let the fear or religion control my existence.

In my opinion God has enough self esteem that he doesn't need us to be his cheerleader. I think that he wants us to be good, and do right, but if we don't I don't think that we will burn for eternity because of it. The "rules" in the bible were, in my opinion, written in a time where the threat of eternal damnation weighed heavier on people than the threat of jail, they obviously didn't have like CSI or anything then, catching a criminal had to have been a great deal harder, sometimes almost impossible. I think that God exists mainly because I find it hard to believe that humans are the only species that were able to evolve as far as we did. It's hard to believe that nature would favor one species this much. When pigs can write plays and stingrays can come up with democracy then I'll think differently, but I believe that God had to have helped us out a little through evolution.

As for the false religion stuff, back in the times of the bible, religion was a great way to have controll over people (for good or bad), so saying any other religion is a surefire way to get you into hell is a good way to govern more people.

At least that's my opinion...
Also, I consider myself a free-thinking Roman Catholic

God has worked all kinds of miracles....too bad we were not here two thousand years ago to see them. For some reason, he's stopped all the fun. Apparently God doesn't believe in mass communicating either. He likes to inform the masses by telling one person (ie, Paul, Muhammad, Joseph Smith, Moses) what all of humanity needs to know. Kind of like alien abductions.

We have no free will. We have an ultimatum. Worship God or burn for eternity. Yeah, that's some choice and I'm sure many people make that decision out of pure love, right?

I was a Christian for 20 years and a believer all my life, but not anymore. The MORE I have learned about the Bible, the less I believe its' contents. I don't discount the notion that there is a God, but I don't believe it's the Biblical God, nor do I believe it's Jesus.

Religion as a whole is contrived. All these rules made by man, to control your life on earth, while promising you the real good stuff is going to come when you die. Yeah, right. The good stuff is happening all around you, in your life, in this world, RIGHT NOW. Try not to miss it, you won't get a second chance. Freddy

God loves you, but if you don't believe in him, he will burn you for all of eternity. We are his children and he loves us like a child.

Could you imagine any scenario where you would want your son/daughter to be tortured for all of eternity for ANYTHING they did?

We get about 70 years on earth (on average) and what we do with those years sentences us to bliss or torture for the rest of eternity? Bullshit. Religion is big business.

See that's the kind of shit I'm talking about. Certain people are raised with certain mentalities, and hell, some are even brought up to kill people in war. Just look at Africa, they have KIDS, some as young as 5! Running around with Ak'47s, killing people. They were raised and brought into this bloodshed, and have to fight for survival.

And the Bible condemns murder, with burning in eternity with hellfire. So why should these kids suffer eternal torture, gnashing of teeth, and hellfire, for something they don't even understand is wrong at this point?
