Why not? Your views about religion seemed to biased by having attended a Christian School and the god and religion you are denying would seem to be a very fundamentalist version. At different times in history all the Abrahamic faiths have struggled with how to interpret their ancient text. Be it totally literal or just as metaphorical mythology.

Your own faith, if you choose to create one might appeal to others, but you seem to be fighting the fundamentalism that is part of most Christian Schools. Many find a connectedness between all humans and indeed all living things on the planet and choose to call it god or at least a force that is greater than the individual. The bible, church/religion are all man made or perhaps the term is man conspired. Yet they have in many, if not most instances given us the social order with which to interact with each other and make gains in many aspects of enhanced collective knowledge.

Try to not focus on the inconsistencies of religious dogma, but explore the mythology/metaphor of it. combine it with ancient history, and modern psychology and you will see that it has served a lot of good for human kind and where it has failed people is when people have made the mistakes not god.
