| Jr. Member | Unfortunately there are many religions that use marijuana in there worship ceremonies, yet the federal government still wont allow it's possession, use, sale, or cultivation. I can't name the religions off the top of my head but I'm sure if you did a search on ask.com msn.com you would find something.

| Jr. Member | I don't understand..That's just like saying that when I rape someone I'm worshiping. When I kill someone I'm worshiping. Just becuase you claime it's for religious perposes doesn't make it legal.

| I must disagree with you. In this our society, it is readily accepted that the above named transgressions do not fit into a religious nor a societal framework. They are also specifically prohibited in most religious doctrine, such as the Christians ten commandments among others. The use of marijuana in worship is only proscribed by temporal law. Using your reasoning, which seems incredibly simplistic by the way, the only reason one uses marijuana in worship is to bypass temporal law. If I have not misinterpreted you, then I must say. You are wrong. Since most posters here are in North America, I will relate to you what your reasoning brings. In Oregon, two Amerindians were jailed for using drugs long sacred to their peoples. This eventually went to the U.S. Supreme court where it was ruled that the Court would allow this to stand DESPITE constitutional guarantees in regards to the freedom of religion, not to mention treaty guarantees. Their reasoning, if they allowed a religious exemption for drugs, regardless of how embedded the use was in these peoples culture, they open the door to exactly the scenario you have put forth. This was so patently absurd, Congress, who are still rabidly prohibitionist, changed the law a few years later to guarantee Amerindians the use of their cultural sacrament. It seems a patent example to me of how the drug war paranoia is swamping the Freedoms and liberties that are ours through divine gift, and not extended to us through temporal authority. I think the association of marijuana in your and many others minds with these truly base criminal acts is a regrettable byproduct of drug war lies. Please, I am an Amerindian, I worship that way, and I use marijuana in my worship. I do not propose jailing Catholics for serving small children wine, to say nothing about the message that sends that alcohol is good, nor should you consign me, or Rastas, or any other these criminal attributes without positive knowledge that there is truth in your statements. Another note, the use of religion for the justification of use, without a valid belief system behind it, is a bad move. it dilutes true belief, and makes us incredible in the eyes of our opponents. Should you truly believe it is a sacrament, then fine, more power to you, but let us not give our opposition more fuel with which to keep us in chains. Kelly. | |

| okay calm down man... it's just an I dea I came up with to bypass our laws. but I didn't even complete what i was saying. I just wanted to know if people would agree. well by the looks of it, you put entirly too much thought into the subject as I didn't. but in reality I wouldn't come near to making it happen. it was a simple idea, and you went and made yourself sound too and uterly intelligent. I think you need to smoke some more weed to bring yourself down to my level of thought. see I look at whats basic and I go with the flow. with this I mean, I just said basicly... nothing... | |

| That I need to smoke a bowl..I will heartily agree with. Umm whether or not I am intelligent ...you and others must of necessity be the judge. I have seen others post this type of thought n here, and have generally seen the same non-answer given that super woman gave. And decided to post. If you will look to the left of my post, you will see the word "Moderator". This is a thing of pride for me, and also of duty. I am here because I believe in true legalization. This is why I get so involved in my postings. I like to be clear. As long as there exist such attitudes as that evinced by super woman, I will present a counter argument with all of the limited eloquence at my command. I did not mean to slam your idea, I meant to define it, within a framework that our opponents, non smoking, at times non thinking voters who might wander in here, can accept, and hopefully lead them to our side. And trust me Doc.....I will chill, when this war is done and the herb is free. Kelly P.S. I will also accept that super woman may have been presenting that same soccer mom view to spur debate, if so, I am sure she will respond. Kelly | |

| I respect your title as a moderator, and I understand what you as well as I stand for. But with all this bs and no action I just decided have some fun with asking if people agreed with my idea to form a religion. And since i observed and to my knowledge the Native Americans are lawfully allowed to smoke marijuana in their rituals. and thats what the idea was based upon. nothing more, nothing less. well maybe a tablespoon of ignorance. I didn't mean to offend you, maybe I didn't but to me thats what it sounds like. Yeah, it was rude of me to "attack" you, and I apologize. Yeah i agree that what superwoman was saying is a bit over the edge, because smokin bud doesn't even come close to comparin it to rape or murder. and what she said truely shows what people think of fellow potheads | |
