| Alright, just to give you some background on what I follow as far as spirituality, I have particular interest in the philosophies of Nagualism, shamanism, Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and Christianity. I don't particularly have a religion, as all religions tend to teach the same philosophies. But as far as I'm concerned, I no longer wish to use marijuana for recreation only. Depending on the person, I believe that this is actually disrespectful to the plant. Now if you know anything about Nagualism, you know that it is believed that every species of plants has an ally, an entity. Some off-topic plants are used for spiritual purposes with the belief that the ally of the plant will teach them the right way to live. I believe that the marijuana plant has an ally, and that it can teach us. After all, people do call it a gift from God(s). But as of now, I get high, then just chill and do the usual, I don't gain anything spiritual out of it. What can I do to gain spiritual knowledge from this plant? Or is it more of a disciplining plant as far as spirituality goes? |

| Meditate The whole process from inhaling to holding it in your lungs to exhaling should be analyzed to the deepest possible level. Every feeling that you have should be sensed, known, understood.

| Yes, meditate. You can find a good read on that subject here: http://www.thc-ministry.net/forum/ar...tself-2279.htm and here: http://www.eoni.com/~visionquest

| Meditate... ![]() It can't be said enough. Meditation is an interesting concept. I find that I can meditate while doing a number of things. I drive a tractor round and round in the fields at 3 MPH, that is some of my best meditation time. Marijuana has this interesting effect with regard to thinking, namely the ability to allow for more free associative thought processes. An open mind is required... One thought leading to another, etc. Meditation can come in many forms, and mowing the lawn is one of them. I gotta get set to go and cut the lawn, so I grab my walkman, but before I cut, I go behind the garage and fire it up... --Kid Rock --Bullgod The trick I think is to not hold onto and ponder thoughts, just let the thought progress of it's own accord and merely watch the thought form without stopping to place your judgements upon it. I'd say that your question is a valid one in that the technique has to sort of dawn upon you before any explanation makes any sense. Just let go of thought, and allow thoughts to wander where they will. Be the observer. Let go, let God... ![]() When you least expect it, you will find yourself going WOW! Where did that thought come from? Marijuana just allows us to tap into that part of us that extends to creation, or God. The connection is always present, the question is wether or not we are tuning into that connection or not. I feel that THC allows the consiousness to move up that spiritual ladder into realms that we are just beginning to look at with Quantum Physics. If we are receptive to the thoughts that come from deep within us, we can stop searching for enlightenment, because it will have found us. You will see it when you believe it... ![]() Higher Logic has pointed out the best place to start. Breathing, observe it, and when a thought disturbs that observation, let the thought go. Keep doing that and let go while observing. Thanks Ferre, and welcome to Marijuana.com. I'm a big fan of the THC Ministry. It's our undiscovered ace in the hole with regard to this war. Marijuana as sacrement is a constitutionally protected activity. It brought me to greater understanding that I otherwise wouldn't have right now, and it has allowed me to become a more spiritual honest hard working person. One last bit, seek the moment. When you find yourself in the moment, you are meditating. Wouldn't it be a trip if thought were the foundation that the whole of existance rests upon? Rev. Logos

| Meditating seems to be the overwhelming answer but hey I am a Christian and I smoke pot. All I need to do is just start thinking about it then I am completely overwhelmed by the feeling that he is talking to me and telling me what to do and what not to do. I think that is why I smoke in the first place. Anyways meditating might be the answer to your qualms. Weedfiend

) I believe Blunts93 was using the term "ally" in the sense that Carlos Castaneda used it, loosely meaning a "teacher" or "guiding spirit" that lives within the plant. Hope you're still around to get your answer! ![]() Last edited by StonedImmaculate21 : 03-29-2008 at 05:43 AM. | |

| While intoxication is generally discouraged in Buddhism because it is considered illusory and a mask to clarity, my personal experiences with the herb have led me to a deeper empathy with the sentient beings around me, and a more loving nature. I am also more keen to remain in the present moment, and my meditation has become a much deeper and enhanced practice. So I definitely use marijuana as a tool towards enlightenment. Does it enlighten in itself? Maybe not. But if you meet the Buddha in the road, kill him. And if the bodhis tell you not to smoke, toke one up anyway. As far as I'm concerned, your experience in each life is your own alone. There is no one to judge but yourself.

| I think that's the problem with the way most religious organizations view drugs, they see it as providing the user with an "illusion", and clouding their perception of reality. What psychedelics (including marijuana) really do is put you into a state of heightened self-awareness and self-examination, a state where you come in intimate contact with your own psyche. I believe that consensus reality is the illusion, and that which you perceive while in this state of heightened self-awareness is more "real" than anything you perceive in the course of your everyday life. Ultimately, your perception determines your reality; this is why marijuana and other psychedelics are excellent tools for meditation, therapy, seeking spiritual enlightenment, what have you, because by altering your perception of reality, you can see it for the illusion that it is, I think that's what true "enlightenment" really means. |
