For some reason I couldn't post this as a reply so i just made a new thread:
Everybody,
Saying that the Bible isn’t true is like discarding all your history text books from school or saying that the dictionary doesn’t really mean what it says. God doesn’t come from anywhere He just is the O/T name for God Jehovah means He is. He always was and always will be, there is no time for God therefore he just is.
I would like to clarify something for Stephanie. You must realize that Jesus is God then the New Testament can make sense to you. When you realize that God had a plan because of our sin he came in the form of man and lived like a man but was without sin. His purpose was to seek and to save that which was lost. You’re right in saying that God said in the O/T that there was no other gods beside him, He was establishing the truth of the oneness of the Godhead. You’re also right about the graven images that certain denominations have made, At my church we do not have such images and we know that it is wrong and the Lord will be the judge of them who do not listen to His word. Anyway scripture speaks for itself so here goes:
-Deut 6: 4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
-John 1:14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
-acts 20: 28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
-Col 2: 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

King James version. I read new king james cuz i am not good with thou's and saith and all those words but I think the amplified bible, nkjv, kjv are the only good versions. The new international version is watered down

I agree that the Bible is the true word of man concering the Christian religion. But I also think that all spiritual works, from all religions, help their followers to commune with a higher being some call God. I call it the thing that makes the world go round. But I'm 100% sure there is something bigger and better than all of us out there somewhere. I just happen to find the way via a different path.

Im sorry i disagree. While the overall message may be legit, not everything in the bible can be true. It has a bais from the writer. Some of the writers views had to leech into it, its human nature. Plus if it was really the word of god, why is over all from a mans point of view?

I have no real problem with the bible other then the fluff that is added to attract people to the faith. The overall message of the bible is the same as most relgions.

You have a good head on your shoulders druglawreform. I'm glad that you and nime can acknowledge that it is correct, in that it is not contradictory to itself and it holds some truth. I believe its the whole truth, but I'm not going to try and convert you or preach to you right now.

Nime, yes all the people who put the ink to the paper were of the male gender, but many women have told me that the bible is chauvanistic ( i'm not sure how to spell it) and I ask them to tell me what verse in the bible and they can't tell me. Same goes for contradictions. I ask for the verses and not one person has ever been able to tell me where. I believe God wants us all to be equal and I don't believe that God shows favoritism because God says he is not a respector of persons. That doesn't mean God doesn't respect people, it means he isn't sexist, or racist. There are books in the old testament that are about great women like Ruth, Obadiah, and Esther. Women were made from the rib of a man, so we could be equal. God didn't want to pick any other bone because it would throw everything off balance. Another thing, a lot of times the bible says men, but it really means men and women. God thinks of us as one. We are all created in his image. I know for a fact that my God does not love men more or think they are more spiritual than women. That is a lie from the devil.

Well in reply to the first topic,the main reason why they say the bible isnt true because it isnt the original (the catholics took out certian books wrote by different christian sects and its been edited many times by corrupt catholics) and modern archeologists have found no evidence so fair that the hebrews biult the pryamids or if moses ever did free the hebrews from the egyptians (that i know of)

Please explain why books of the bible were taken out then? The bible says at the end of revilations(sp) that nothing in this book should be taken out or added. Yet as above it was pointed out, books were removed. Now how is this allowed, the bible said not to. It goes to show you the church altering things to serve its need.

books of the bible have been removed over the course of the bible's existance because at various points in history, different groups of people in power(especially the vatican) have taken it upon themselves to alter the bible to what they believe the christian faith should be about. yes, it is biblically wrong to do that but its the same thing as congress amending the constitution. the people with the most power get the idea that they have the right to change sacred documents. im about 95% sure that what i just said is accurate, so if its wrong, somebody correct me-
