| I'm going to step on a soap box here for a sec about marijuana. I am a new smoker to marijuana, but I truley plan on smoking it for the rest of my life, or at least as long as possible. I want to talk a little about god and cannabis. I have alot of things to cover, but I highly doubt this will be long. Also, please mind the lack of organization as I am floating off ideas out of my head. Please do not look at this as a tell-all philosophy, just some ideas to think about. Also please overlook the spelling mistakes ![]() I am a hardcore Christian, and I will assume for the sake of the argument, God Exists, and Jesus Christ was ressurected 3 days after his death by Pontius Pilate. Is Smoking Cannabis a Sin? 5th definition of indulgence - Something granted as a favor or privilege. Cannabis, as made NATURALLY BY GOD HIMSELF and in my opinion was possibly a gift to earth. Now one could argue that Cannabis is a sin, but let's look at smoking. We generally don't associate smoking tobacco, or even alcohol alot as a sin as it is legal under US law. Hmmm interesting. Cannabis happens to be illegal, and also very "stigmatic" in our society today. Many look down upon Cannabis Smokers. I resent that in the worst way possible. Not only should a christian look down to NO ONE as we are all creations of god, we should not consider a thoughtful indulgence of highness as a blind eye against god! Now, cannabis could be considered a test, and those who smoke too much could possibly sin by OVER indulgence, but you can over indulge ANY substance. Is cannabis what god wants for us? Could Cannabis, even not recognized a sin, really be good in the eyes of the lord, and what he wants? Well, look at everything else we indulge in. Caffeine, nicotine, friends, TV, books, food. We generally don't associate anyone as a bad person unless they have TOO MUCH of one of those legal substances. Does god also not want us to do any of those? Well I for one am against total deprevation. If god did not want us to enjoy his/our creations, he would not have given us free will to do so. That's all I have for now, I'll be posting more questions later, as I have to do my laundry. |

| as a firm believer in the evils of organized religion, i would venture to say that your argument is inherently flawed just because you assume there is a sentient christian god sitting up in heaven watching and judging our every move. you are right though in that there is no way that any reasonable person should consider it a 'sin' to smoke pot. i also think it shouldnt be a sin to do any number of other off topic drugs as well, because on principle, you should be able to alter your own consciousness any way you please. |

Furthermore, he was really trying to say that, since cannabis is a natural herb, then whoever created the Earth put it here. | |

| Plant it. Water it. And watch it grow. Pick and smoke. What's the difference between smoking any other plant or herb growing in your garden. Although. I musy say I have not tried to smoke any other plants. But, maybe I should try it. I am sure there is not anyone who has just sat around trying to smoke what ever is growing, just to see if it produces an effect like mj. I will tell if I do. But, I have to work up the nerve first. |
