| Anyone else try fasting in an attempt to be closer to the divine? Every once and awhile like for 4 days every 4 months i dont eat, i drink water but i dont eat, i also dont sleep. A lot of people tell me this is a horrible thing to do but to me its a way of making sure i am alive and connected with mother earth. I cant describe the awesome feeling i get when im doing it other than that im not in control of my life at all, my sheer existence through this period is up to the one thing i worship, the guardian of earth that i call Mom for short. I was just wondering if anyone else here has tried religious fasting, even if its for other religions i still want to hear about it. Or am i the only weirdo out there who likes to get close to physical and mental exhaustion only to see the true aspect of his divinity. Cleric![]() |

| yeah the longest fast I have ever done was a 24 hour fast. Yeah it is a great feeling to seperate yourself from the flesh and the thoughts are so clear when you are fasting. I hardly ever fast but I should pray about fasting more often to see when God wants me to do it. There are some good resources on fasting at erowid.org to help those who are just starting out. I don't know if they will have articles on fasting for those who follow native american and wiccan ways of life, but they might. I suggest you check it out. Anyways I'm out of this mug, peace! | |

| i've fasted for jewish spiritual purposes; the fasts generally last 25 hours (from one sundown to the next). fasting has never been the major component for me in those rituals but it has certainly allowed me to experience a disconnection from the phyiscal world and simultaneously recognize humility in response to my dependence upon our planet's gifts. i only deprive myself of sleep on shavuot, a jewish holiday (no fasting involved) in which part of the celebration involves staying up all night and studying torah and mystical texts. it's felt less like deprivation and more like invigoration. ![]() of course, there are nights of study/prayer/meditation in which i get little sleep, though it's unintentional. | |

| It is kinda strange. Each time I get these warm wonderful feelings, I get the munchies and the fasting is over! Daniel |

| Yeah daniel I can relate. That used to happen to me. It seemed like everytime I would try to fast, my attempts would prove futile. That's why I only fast when I believe God calls me to do it. I can't do it just for myself. I think you first need to know why your fasting and pray or meditate while you are in the fast. Don't watch TV or allow distractions from the world to infiltrate into your brain. Peace | |

| The new System Of a Down album is really dope. They have a different style now, but I really dig it. I love Serj's voice! My favourite songs off it are: Shame, Metro, Chop Suey, Needles, Johnny, Forest... Shame is great because it has a few of the guys from The Wu-Tang Clan spitting rhymes on it, with Serj Tankian singing the original "Shame on a nigga" lyrics from the 36 chambers.... it comes together really well, nothing like Rage against the machine's collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan on the song "Wu Tang Clan ain't nothing to f wit" As for fasting: never done it, because I don't have a chance, but I'd like to give it a try, since I'm willing to explore spirituality like that. As for ramen noodles: Every day after school I'd get stoned with my friend and we'd eat Ramen Noodles...those were the days. I think Ramen Noodles are made for stoners! So easy to make, so good! mmm... | |
