| Hi all, I have just signed up on marijuana.com and this is my first post. Everytime I smoke weed, I feel some kind of change in my spiritual self, and for a couple of days later I feel slightly more religious and enlightened. This is so much so that I have been trying to write some kind of a book about my experiences, so that I can convey what my faith is. (Even though I am not quite sure what my faith is, and I am still working on it- all I know is that I have some faith that there is more to life than what we see day to day). I make loads of notes when I am high, in an effort to help me remember my thoughts when I am sober (and have better motor skills to type it up! ) and through in these notes I come up with strange theories which progress in depth and detail next time I smoke. The first time I started making notes, I felt so strange, it was like being in a strange dream and making a recording to take back with you to reality when you wake up. Just imagine waking up with a recording of your dream written first hand by your dream character. Anyway - the point I was trying to get to was: After bonging last night I feel a bit religious today and so searched on the internet for some links between weed and God, and I stumbled on this website. Specifically this thread: http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthread.php?t=12258 This idea of 'you are your own God' is a conclusion I have come to in my notes many times. Also the idea that there is an built in religion inside all humans (perhaps all living beings) and in order to find out about it we require weed to expand our lateral thinking and create new ideas. The fact that other people from around the world are having the same religious thoughts as me when they are high seems to confirm this. My book's intention is to find this definite religion and create a new bible, however the more and more I think about these ideas when I am stoned, the more links I find with Christianity. Perhaps this is just because I was raised as a Catholic (not that I consider myself Catholic now). But I plan to research further into more religions, and I have already found links with Buddhism, Judaism, Mormonism and Rastafarianism (although I don't agree with the racial views found in any of these). Maybe each of these religions were started by different people after smoking weed (hence the differences in personalities dictate the differences in the religions, though many ideals remain the same). Mormonism was started by a man in more recent times who believed that he was visited by an angel who gave him the ability to decode the texts of the perfect and only religion. This is almost exactly what I wish to do, however the gold plates of text would be within my mind, and the seeing stones to decode them would be the weed. Well, there's a lot more to write, but I don't want to put too many people off of reading this, so I will cut it short ( well not really short!)Depending on the response to this post I may post frequently here, just to compare ideas on religion when stoned. Thanks for reading- JJBongalong |

| Hey there Jj, I was reading through your post and thought about myself some 2 and a half years ago (time in which I started smoking ganja). I seem to have similar "objectives" as you, and I too have found that many things link with Christianism as you said here: Quote:
I have pondered these things a lot on this site, maybe if you ran a search for my posts you'll find some interesting ones (most are under the Philosophy forum). Peace.7L

| Thanks for the warm welcome guys, SevenLeafs, I am glad to find someone else keen on finding more to life. I must admit that I don't know an awful lot about the ideas you mention (Dante's Divine Comedy, Faust's various myths, an analysis of The Devil's Advocate, Taoism) I will definitely check into finding out more about them. The 'worry' I have at the moment is whether or not smoking weed is a good part of this religion I want to make for myself. (I use the word "worry" loosely as I don't really think about it seriously for my concerns are metaphysical). The other night I hit on the conclusion that marijuana is a plant of knowledge, but in the Garden of Eden the humans were forbidden to use it, by God. Now I am thinking that it might be wrong to use it, and lack of knowledge may be the happiest life, but in order to fully reach this conclusion and spread the word to other people I require the weed to open up my mind. So I am faced with a dilemma of finding absolute truth through a method which is damned or ignorantly living life without sin. I don't know - but I can't see me giving up weed any time soon! (Not that I smoke especially often.)C u all l8r! JJBongalong PS. cheers for the cookie Mamabudz! ![]() |

| 1. That has been my belief for a long time, that you are your own god. The essence of it is epitomized by the phrase "Thou Art God" from the novel Stranger in a Strange Land, an admitted work of fiction but powerfully inspiring nonetheless. It has been described as the greatest science fiction story ever told.... you just have to read it. 2. I also used to write down stuff! I started when I first started smoking, and you're right it was JUST like writing down a record to keep from your dreams.... amazing. I really should start doing this agagin. 3. Most elements of "truth" you will find in Christianity, because those elements are in almost all religions, including Christianity. A religion couldn't expect to last thousands of years if it wasn't at least mostly internally consistent and contained within it global Truths. This is why, when you get down to the basics of what is "approved" and what is "forbidden", you'll find very little difference if any from religion to religion. What I'm saying is, you see these things as elements of Christianity because that's the religion you're most familiar with. Same for me. But it's nothing special about Christianity, it's just something special about the fact that when people get together and try to ascertain Truth (tm), they often come up with the same thing. (See point 1). Or they just steal ideas from each other =P 4. Marijuana, the plant of knowledge! I'd never thought of that before, omg that's great. I wouldn't say it's a "damned method." Even if marijuana were somehow the "tree of knowledge" from the garden of Eden, well Christianity tells you that we live under a different law now (the new Testament) than what they did originally (the Old Testament). Under the old law, every human would fail and go to hell because humans, by nature, from Adam onward, are incapable of preventing themselves from "sinning". Here's some words of the Apostle Paul if you need further convincing: "All things are lawful. But all things are not expedient." The book of Romans, maybe? He talks about a brother who eats on the Sabbath and gives thanks to God for the food he's given. He talks about another brother who abstains from eating on the Sabbath in honor of God. Paul says that BOTH men are right, that the food itself cannot be evil for how can food be evil? But it is what you do with it, and since both are using it to honor god, both are justified. Furthermore, he says that just because you have strong enough faith that you know it okay for you to do things like eat meat on the sabbath, and you know that God doesn't view "things" as sinful, only intentions, that you should do as you know your faith is able to handle, but to not become a stumbling block for your brethren with weaker faith, who might eat meat with you and then condemn himself in his heart fault, feeling that it was sinful.

| Wow, I'm loving this feedback, this is just what I have been looking for! Erm- Hi Jaman! Cassius, thanks for agreeing with some of my ideas, it is really cool to know that I am not alone in my way-out thinking. I do have more ideas, but I need to structure and formalize it all a bit more. Let me tell you a bit about me. I'm 20, England, at university in Warwick (that north of London for all you Americans! ) and I'm studying Maths and Physics. I think part of the reason I look for more meaning to life, is that my course explains (well, models and postulates) most of the reality around us. However when I am high, I feel so out of the ordinary, so unlike myself, but at the same time an exaggeration of myself, and I realise how much our point of view affects our minds. For example think of the colour 'green'. You know exactly what colour green is. You know that leaves and grass are green. You know when a car is green or not. However, I believe that from the perspective of another person they may not see the same colour as you. They will have a different anatomy to yours and hence will not input the green colour into their brain in exactly the same as you. Yet they will still associate it with trees and leaves, from an early age. Imagine the world around you in psychadelic colours, then imagine that you have grown up with it from birth- would you know any different. I reckon that the same applies to everything we see, hear, touch, taste etc. Our senses are our only links with reality, and they cannot really be trusted objectively. I really want to know more about my mind and my own interpretations on reality, and I want other people to think about it too. That is one of the reasons I wish to analyse myself and my life. I think I really got off the point there, but ah well, I'm tired and have to be up in 6 hours. C u soon JJBongalong |

| To know what's really "good" and "evil", you have to view it from a different perspective - every time. I was reading Cassius' post, and when I got to this point... : Quote:
In the quote, two persons do two different things. Both actions are then said to be "correct". I agree with this, because we have "free will" in the sense that we can always choose and always do. It is why you do it that is important. Like I read later, Cassius also refers to the fact that this choice may have an "intention" (or motive, or reason for...) behind it (there not always an intention); he also mentions that it is "right" if your intentions are to honor God. This is exactly why I don't believe in a "God". I do not believe that a "being", of some sort of "supernatural" nature, is observing us and "guiding" us through our lives (which I think is defined improperly; I would define life as "the material perception that a greater subconscious, or GOD, or US, is having at a particular time" (through the 5 material senses). Or, in likeness to previous "mask" analogies, life would be "the mask our greater conscious wears during the theatrical play" (only that this thing/person/being/God/we/US can wear several masks at the same "time"). So, when you "think of the colour green" you... Quote:
Think about it. Peace.7L

| regarding Green... and colors ...and perception thereof... Know anyone who is colorblind? They can't perceive color the way a person with normal rods & cones in their eyes can. But the color still exists. Does that make them god but less so? What of colors outside our visual spectrum, that an insect can see...does that make them more god? Just throwing an idea into the mix | |

See what I mean? God is still wearing an eyeless mask, but that does not mean he is less or more, it means that he still is, but with a very unique mask. Don't think about we humans being god only, think about how everything is god, even machines (which come from natural resources, and even in the case that the machine would be entirely "fictitious", it would still have atoms and electrons and what not, so it would still be "the same"; they would be made by us). Quote:
I was not talking about how we can be "more god", or the contrary. If you look at it from my perspective, you would be talking about the devil there Mama (but off course, the devil would be a rampant mask that did not want to leave the material plane because of the pleasures this last provides. You could say it was also a "blind mask", but in the spiritual sense. You could say that this mask has all the senses, but it has heightened senses, so it would be "the god of the material plane" because it is guided by everything material [pleasures]). The devil would be that mask that wants to remain in the theater, believing that the theater is all there is. So you see, that insect that can see colors outside of our spectrum is not "more god", it's just God, with a different "perspective". The devil: that prideful mask that thought it could be God, that thought it could wear other masks, but the mask is not meant to wear others, it is meant to be worn. Peace.7L PS: Any more questions? (I would really like to answer them... I loooooove questions)
