Has anyone esle sat down and thought about how some religions can instill a phobia? Like take the religions connected with christianty, that religion uses the snake as a sigh of evil, so maybe some people just fear snakes off th get go because thier religion says that creature is evil or bad.

Can you think of any other religion/phobia theorys.

And only my opinion,that all of the western religions are fear-based,with many phobias and rituals that keep them from falling prey to satan........thus saving their pitiful souls from hellfire and damnation......I feel stronger truths from some of the eastern beliefs....... that provide alternatives to "SEnd US your $$$ and JAE$U$ will save your soul.........b.s.

Look at how messed up the southern "bible belt" states are, all because of christianity ..... christianity is the worst cult in existence, cant wait till the day (hundreds of years from now im sure) when its non existent anymore .....

You sure about that one? There are a lot of cults out there.

It has already survived 2000 years. And for us believers, it will continue on forever.

I would agree that many are seen as "fear based" when most often they are "loved based".

Chrisianity has nothing to do with sending anybody any money. The Bible does not teach that. People use religion (and anything else) to make money. There are plenty of "Eastern" religions out there, and I would bet that people are making money off them also.

Christianity is the basis of our government here in north america, granted you can make the argument that the founding fathers (of the U.S.) werent necessarily religious but many other influencial people were and over the years religion has reered its ugly head in full. The south with its history of racism, ignorance, conservative, christian values is a black mark on the U.S. and the argument "well christianity has been around for 2000 years" doesnt hold sh*t cause for the majority of those years people lived in total ignorance, once society started to open its eyes many people realized how dumb it really was and though many christians are having a field day with the revival of christian values in our society its typical backlash and will fade away to common sense and science within the next hundred years (my opinion) unless of course we slip back into the dark ages were the christ cult reigned supreme, along with stupidity.

p.s. as for being the worst cult ever ? YES !!! Christianity is responsible for the annihalation of cultures, and countless people, the homogenization of thought as well as the promotion of ignorance. Without Chrisitianity the world would be a much better place, give me a button to press to rid the world of chrisitianity and I would do it. Sick sick cult that people lap up because they cant handle reality as far as im concerned.

Says you. I am sure that there are plenty of southern people that would disagree with you. I live in Minnesota where we don't have any racism, ignorance, conservatives or people with christian values here, so I guess it is just a "bible belt" thing.

We are such a priveliged and spoiled people. I want to vomit when you say that christianity is the worst cult agaric. Obviously you have limited knowlege of other religions. Women are raped, killed, mutilated on suspision that a wife may have had an affair against her husband. If a 16 year old gets pregnant in parts of the middle east, the family murders the daughter throws her in an allie for dishonor toward the family. People will be in prison for decades if an islamic police officer finds beer or any other alcoholic beverage in a house. And just because you don't like the fact that when you wake up on sunday morning with a preacher on a major network, you get bent out of shape. Imagine the penalties for smoking marijuana. Sometimes it is punishable by death. Don't complain about Christianity and the crusades. Look at islam and the armenian genocide that has and is still being taken place against those who believe in Jesus Christ and refuse to be muslim. listen to P.L.U.C.K by system of adown and you might get an idea about what is going down in other places. At least our country gives us food and water. Many places like Chiapas in mexico, these farmers have to start revolutions sharpened on violence and suffering so they can have a meal to eat. C'mon agaric don't give me that. You are lucky that you are not a Jew in Germany, a palestinean in israel, a woman in the middle east, or and indigenous in mexico.

I see your point and I admit I am unyielding to chrisitianity, wether other religions are just as bad in the past or today christianity still causes more harm then good in our society and around the world. I get disgusted when I think of the taliban but the taliban is in the minority. Chrisitianity is also partly to blame for the spread of aids in third world countries due to the fact that they wont supply condoms or teach safe sex (there are many many examples of christian ignorance). In the time of jesus I would have been right there, he was a radical in a time that needed a hippie (he was after all the hippie of his time, anti-big brother, pro-love) but the christ cults are sorely outdated and push too much ignorance and stupidity into our societal fiber (look at evolutions opposition, safe sex, birth control, witch burnings, crusades, even such simple things we take for granted today like the earth being round have only recently been acknowledged by many christ churchs) when the scales are weighed christianity comes up a great big loser and at some point in the future (if our species even survives that long) our ancestors will look back on us like we do with ancient societies and they will chuckle as they read what our belief systems are and imagine us as some half witted group of people. Christianity had its place in history, as an educated race we are able to see the glaring flaws in the christ cults and we should be able to move past them (of course, again, people need something to cling to, to give their lives meaning and to make them feel comfortable about their death) if we as a global society cant move past religion then we are DOOMED as a species and rightfully deserve to be plucked from the gene pool, a bad seed.

p.s. bonghits - the fact that we are priveledged has NO bearing on wether we should believe something or accept its existence, none ! because I live in a "free" society that has nothing to do with the validity of any religion.

Look I am not religious, but please don't think that we are like those cults. I think the evil that has corrupted the church started and will end with the Roman catholics. These gentiles don't know how to carry the words of a Jewish Rabbi. (I'm a gentile too) Anyway, Jesus warns about false prophets that will come in his name to distort his work. We have made a religion out of something that was never supposed to turn into one. Religious people were the kind of people that killed Christ and his fight was against self-righteous, stone-casting people. I can understand your hatred for religion. Trust me, there are many true Christians out there who are not religious and despise the whole TBN give me money and Christ will set you free stuff. Those people are the church of Laodicea mentioned in the book of revelation. They are lukewarm and have only thought about getting riches yet they are poor in spirit. Believe me, I can't stand seeing all that gold on the chairs and windows, yet with all their money they say " We can only be on if you sow your seed of 2000$ towards our ministry" I don't know where you live and maybe you have seen a lot of evil within the church. So have I. It doesn't make me love Christ any less, because I know these people are not real Christians. They are fools trying to currupt whats real.

Good point about the birth control!. The church says abstinence. But I think its a conspiracy. A lot of these so-called churches really do not care. I think its our country that is responsible for education of sex, not the Church but I see your point.
