| Yeah when I used to be into Wicca, I noticed a lot of similarities to what I had learned from my own wisdom derived from Christianity. I don't see how the worship of the holy spirit is better than the worship of God. God to me is also the holy spirit. I believe the holy spirit is also embedded within my spirit. So in a way I am a part of God, but unlike new age, I don't believe I am the source. I am a member of the source, I am a part of the body of Christ, the physical manifestation of The supreme entity which guides us into all knowledge and understanding. I also believe God can be seperate from the holy spirit and Christ. They are all different persons, but together they are God. Much like the three types of form. For example, water, can be a gas, liquid, or solid; yet the failure of this analogy is that God can be all three at the same time. Please enlighten me Stoned Philosopher as to how the Gnostic Christians were so much different and truer than Christianity as I follow it. And please give me an example as to how my God wouldn't exist because of my "primitive" ideas as to how God can be seen and worshipped. Peace out BH4C | |

| Well i was comparing modren christianity (the one with the all mighty "good" god and a mythilogical super human jesus) to gnostic christianity (the all mighty god isnt what he seems to be, and jesus was a normal person yet he was a great man) The point is that gnostic christianity is dirived straight from the teachings of jesus while modern christianity is dirived indirectly from the teachings of jesus from a man that hardly even knew him, which was Paul. Also, during the dawn of the Catholic church, they edited the bible and got rid of material concerning other christian sects including the gnostics because it disagreed with many of their ideas (after all i concider the Catholic church the new roman empire with roman ideas). And,do you believe that your god is a senitent diety or just a force? And no i cant confirm that your god dosent exist even though you cant confirm that your god really exists (interesting paradox heh). I just to be christian for most my life, and for me it wasnt the way that i was suppost to live ,even though jesus was a ordinary man,he wasnt a superhuman christ or messiah described in the bible and i still honor his teachings as a teacher nothing more (not like a supposted "son of god"). Sorry if i have trashed your beliefs into christianity,if your think your form of christianity is the right way then by all means go by it untill you might think otherwise. But for me deep down inside the idea of modren christianity doesnt agree with me. The Stoned Philosopher ![]() |

| Just wanted topoke my head in over here and offer a plate of freshed baked...love that part...cookies ![]() This is a fascinating thread, it's made the natural evolution from a discussion of religion to one of spirituality. Now the big challenge is answering the question ~ without flaming each other: Does Spirituality exist in Modern Religion? Don't let me interfere...I'l just muddy the waters ... | The Stoned philosopher, christianity's duality might be deceiving but it can also serve as an excellent Koan. ~boodah~ PS: I also read this thread with fascination, but I'm not the type to get involved into so much complicated talk. I just feel that TSP'S notions appear more and more similar to my own. | |

| I'm not a dualist....I am a monist. It's possible for a Christian to be a monist, in fact it was popular in medieval times. Rene Descartes was also a monist. | |

| It seems that the cookies are all gone for spirituality and modern religion.Or maybe this thread played out,and isn't getting read as much?I've thought about your question though, and I feel like spirituality exist in the minds of all people.Sooner or later,we will all have to submit to it completely.Modern religion is on a path.If it can serve to benefit the good of mankind, then the spirit in which it is intended, will be precieved as such, and live ,even after we're gone. The topic for this thread was "You see what religion causes"and it's been a good thread in spite of the title. ![]() I hope that we will reach a point in our civilization where we don't have to die to find truth. It is a terrible waste of life...IMHO if a religion does not reinforce spirituality,WHAT GOOD IS IT? how bout a new batch? b.s.End world hunger
