| There's this guy I know who I used to look up to as the dahli lama... he pretty much knew it all. Well recently he's taken up the 'normal' life to become a monk. He well on his way, already a full-fledged naturalist and strict vegan who meditates regularly and dedicates much of his time reading up on this stuff. In any case, he's very much anti-marijuana. I've spoken to him about this subject quite a lot and he seems to stand on his stance, that weed is negative for your spirtual being/self; your astral body. Here's a few excerpts from conversations: "one of the effects of marijuana is to turn off our inhibitions and therefore to bypass many of our conscious blocks. The drug also ****s with different aspects of your mind (including your astral body) and therefore DOES atleast hint at the true self. It's kind of difficult to explain but i'll try. You are aware of your own thoughts. That awareness is called consciousness (any psychology book will tell you this). Most people go through their life thinking that their thoughts are actually them but this is not so. The human being is organized into subsystems. These systems may be controlled by your true self, or they can run on auto pilot. the most obvious (and lowest)system is the muscular-skeletal system. take a deep breath. the motion of your lungs is a result of your muscular-skeletal system responding to your commands, which are filtered down through the various systems. OR it could be put on auto pilot, as it usually is. above this system is another system, possible the nervous or endochrine system. Your diaphram is "told" to move because of the nerve impulses and hormones of these higher systems. Therefore, by controlling the nervouse/endochrine system, you can control the muscular skeletal system. here's another fun chart: System______________Function:_________________Asso ciated Chakra: Musc/Skel___________physical motion___________Root Nerve/Endo__________mood, pain________________Sacral/Root Etheric____________________*__________________Sola r Plexus/Sacral Astral______________emotion___________________Hear t/Solar Plexus Mental______________thought+__________________Thro at/Heart/Brow Causal______________true self_________________Crown * the function of the etheric system can't really be explained here because it requires a knowledge of both biology and physics which i don't feel like explaining. All you really need to know about the etheric system is that it is the interface between the astral and Nervous/Endochrine system, that it is manipulated by acupuncture, and that it feeds a sort of nutritive and organizing energy to the organs with a structure similar to the circulatory system. + the Mental body actually has several levels in which different levels of thought are handled: detail, abstract, and essense. Now then, besides their direct responsibilities in the chart, each system is also responsible for controlling the system below it. This si where the explaining gets tough. You are aware of your mood because you know you are more than just a physical body. This is because you can move your finger and notice that your mood does not change. Therefore you know there is something beyong your physical body. You are aware of your thoughts because you notice that your thoughts can operate outside of your feelings. you can feel sad and still think about baseball. However, you can't think about emotional thoughts without feeling the emotions (asuming everything in you is in perfect working order of course). So the emotions are controlled by the thoughts, but the thoughts are independant of the emotions (although you may purposely think about the emotional problem in order to solve it and ease the pain). If you are thinking about math and your emotions change, you can still think about math. But what of your thoughts? you are aware of your thoughts so therefore there is definately something above them, but people never get around to thinking about it. That's because it's IMPOSSIBLE to think about it because THOUGHT is BELOW it. In order to analyze something you must be able to watch it change against a controlled background (this is basically a summation of what i've been saying with the baseball and math). Since most people operate only with their thoughts, they can't analyze, and are scarcely even aware of the true self. So how do we get to know our true selves? meditation is the act of "clearing the mind" of thoughts so that we may experience the true self. What weed does is slightly different. It foricibly changes your thoughts, taking them out of your control. We are used to having our entire body under the control of that supreme thing, the thought. But now that the thought is out of control and hardly a part of you, WHAT IS IT THAT STILL MAKES YOU YOU? getting high gives you an oppurtunity to sit back and try to see if you can find the part of your that is still under your control. If this doesn't make sense then im sorry, i explained it as best i could. Here it should be noted that since weed temporarily controls the mental system, it has severe effects on the astral system. Heres an illustration. Mr. Thought owns a a classic 64 Astralmobile. He spends much of his life maintaining, repairing and driving the thing around his neighborhood. He takes pride in his Astralmobile and always drives responsibly and keeps it in tippy top working condition. Then one day, Mr. Thought decides it wold be fun to get high with his college buddies. A few puffs later, Mr. Thought is completely out of control. The weed makes him do things he wouldn't normally do. He fights for control of himself but can do nothing but watch as the weed makes him drive his car around like a maniac, smashing it into trees and guardrails and what not. By the time Mr. Thought gains control of himself, his car is a real mess. He can repair it piece by piece but the repairs will take time and the car will be messed up while the repairs are being done. Unfortunately, the Astralmobile may never be the same again. This illustration works because it is your Mental system that controls your Astral System and is responsible for maintaining it. If your Mental system is very highly developed it may be able ot fix the astral problems caused by weed rather quickly and easily. But the mental system is like a muscle whereas if you don't use it (ie let weed control it all day long) it atrophes, producing what we call the burn-out. These people have little hope of regaining themselves." So what do you guys think? |

| He has some interesting points but where he makes the mistake is assuming that marijuana takes control of your thoughts. He described it more as taking your thoughts out of control, but that just dosen't happen. My thoughts may get weird, and unexpected thoughts may occur, but I don't see how that means destruction of your true self. Especially since marijuana helped me realize i had a true self.

| does your friend live in a parallel world where everything is the exact opposite of what it is in this world? cuz saying that weed destroys your spiritual side is like saying caffeine makes you feel tired. that's my opinion, anyways. weed allows me to better get in touch with my spiritual side, it doesn't inhibit that connection in any way, shape or form.

| i bet he's jelious ![]() ask him for any proof (hard evidence) to support his thought. if he cant provide any, and just says that he is right, then tell him to stop making fact out of fiction. that or offer him a hit..but even if he does take it, he'll probably just fake that he lost control of Mr. Thought and totalled his classic 64 astralmobile. if he provides and proof to this statement, be sure to post it here..i would like to here this. Peace |

| One thing you have to thinkabout Leithras, is that with this kind of thing, you can't provode any proof. Everything he said is valid, if marijuana were to "control" one's thoughts. But it dosen't. The true self is still very much there. |
