Default That about raps it up for the Catholic Church!

Howdy,
I was raised in the Catholic church and told it was the best religion ever, and everyone else was going to hell. I began knowing this was crap when a preist said in a mass once "... and the Jews killed Jesus" and I remember whispering to my dad "I thought it was the Romans?". My Father said "Me too".
Later I discovered that the Catholic Church torchured Galaleo for 3 days unti lhe admited that the Sun revolved around the Earth. This stood as catholic law until Pope John Paul appoloogized in 1993.
One of my favorite films is 'Dogma', which was designed for lapsed Catholics. It touches on the churches silent consent for the slave trade, the nazis, oppression of women ...etc. But NOW the Catholic church speaks out against America. Come on, where do they get off? Once Iraq is free, I'd like to hear what the Iraqi people have to say. From all the people that have defected over the years, they claim this is a good thing, but then again they're defecters.

My Main question is, can anyone recruit me to a different religion?

Which religion would let me:

I like weed, and think it should be apart of my religious practice.

I believe in peace, but believe there are times for war.

I don't think a religion that mocks other religions is very trustworthy, and I view all forms of discrimination as wrong (even if they're french)

I'd prefer a religion that has no political ties (excluding a pro-cannabis lobbiest)

I like holidays (vacation days, preferably extended weekends)

I don't believe science should be ignored

Meat is good, vegetables okay.

Do you think I fit into any established religion, or should I form my own?

I think you're searching for religion for the wrong reasons. Do you really want to join a new faith just because it sounds good? Do some "soul searching" and find out where you stand. I find most people belonging to organized religion are the least religious. They go to church as a routine, not because they believe. In my opinion, organized religion does nothing except close you off to new ideas.

your religon should be the most important choice you will ever make.

also, a lot of people have there own personal religon. me included. you don't need to be a part of a church to feel one with the creator. just adopt what you think is right into the religon of (your name here) or do some soul searching and create somthing new.

No offense but if you can't help me don't reply. I want a new religion, I don't want a soul search, and I'd prefer to not be religious free. Religion is used when you need faith in something, when you need to believe in something when the crap really hits the fan. If there is suddenly a mortar attack on my home I don't want to contemplate life, nor do I wish to just stand there and think 'That about wraps it up for me". No, I want to be able to scream "Oh great AFLAC Duck, please deliver me from evil, and usher me into a post-life-insurance paradise" or whatever.
Silent Bob, tell me more on your religion.

You just might be an idiot. Obviousely you are searching for a religion for all the wrong reasons. Do you really want to just pick a new one and jump into it? You're openly after blind faith, which disgusts me. Even if you do start going to a new church, you're still religious free. I think you fit in just fine with the Catholic church. You should consider becoming a priest.

if you don't want to work for your faith, go back to being a christian. faith isn't just a, "oh ok, i believe that." you have to work for it. if you don't want to soul search, then don't be religous.

I think you are all the morons here. I 'm not going to just start believing in anything. I've listed some of my beliefs and if they are in line with an established religion I good to go. How can you be so stupid as to just jump in and think "oh be a head smacker" and I'd just become a headsmacker.

I'm asking for help, not critics. The world has too many people more then willing to give a useless opinion. I've listed my some of my beliefs, just don't respond if you don't know, there's no need to be offensive.

I'm a spirtual person, I just feel betrayed by a religion I was raised to follow, but have always been uncomfortable with.

yor right, there is no need to be offensive, so don't call us moron. we gave our opinion. its a good one, too. if some one would have told me what we told you when i was younger, it would have saved me years of pain.

as sfp said, you are openly entering into blind faith in the most important choice you will ever make. and its digusting.

I'm not openly entering, I'm researching. If that disgust you, I guess I am an idiot, because research seems perfectly logical to me.
