| I belive in God. I knew he exisited from an early age simply because of the fact that somthing can't come from nothing. Later in life there was an incident where I personally belive God spoke to me in one of my darkest hours. This was a very profound and deeply personal event that cemented my belief in a "creator" or "omnipotent" God. I am Christian, but hold my own sets of beliefs that would probably set me outside most denominations. I don't belive you NEED to attend church to be close to God. I'm lucky to live in a state where there is still unspoiled nature to commune with God in. Just looking at a glacier or mountain range is all I need to feel God's presence on Earth. I also belive that most of the Bible isn't meant to be taken litteraly. I mean, even if Jesus fed let say, 100 people instead of 5000--it's still a miracle, or at least it's the "meaning behind the words" that are important. In a lot of ways I liked the movie Dogma. I often times find very valuable words of wisdom in the old testement, mixed among all of the convoluted family histories that I can never remember. It almost reminds me of the LOTR series..."Gildor, son of Baldergorth, son of Evenlock....ect" I am also interested in Eastern religions, although at this point I know very little. I watched a movie in my Central Asian history class showing a community of Taoist monks that lived in a remote mountain monestary. The men claimed to be over 100 years old, and credited their long life to their diet, physical training, and meditation sessions. The men were sure old looking, but could pull off swordplay that would make any swashbuckler jealous. It seems that monks of any religion seem very "wise" to me. I would like very much to take a year or so of my life and just retreat to one of these remote places and just learn and study with some very old and wise people. It's a dream of mine one day to maybe travel to India and Tibet and gain some wisdom from the older folks over there. Anyway...for me, the fundemental elements of Christianity work for *me*. I respect other's beliefs because I hate it when people hate on me for mine.

| From reading what you posted you believe there is something which created what you see before you, and you specify that it is a male. There are a few questions one must ask. What is this world that surrounds me? Why is it here? The world that surrounds us is made of energy. This same energy flows through everything. Within this world there are beings which were made to percieve everything that happens. Why do we percieve the world? Perhaps there is some sort of lesson were here to learn. What about a living being who only lived on the earth for a few seconds, what was the purpose of their life? Such a short life doesnt seem like it would hold any meaning to the one who lived it. For a few moments it saw a colorful world full of sights smells and sounds, then suddenly it was gone. When we die, where do our memories go? While we live on this earth we collect a handfull of memories and go. Some memories are like heaven on earth, and others can be hell. A tree can sense the amount of sunlight and rain we get each year, this is stored in its memory. When the tree dies, it returns to the earth from which it came. Where does life come from? Life is like water, it consists of many molecules together it produces a whole body of water. Our ocean is synchronized with our moon, which is in sync with our sun, which is in sync with the rest of the universe. The iron that churns in the center of the earth is the same lifeforce which churns in our blood. Our blood is in sync with our heart. If you watch closely you will notice that the entire world seems to be moving in synchronization. Together we are all one body, like the ocean. Our memories are like drops of rain each drop contains a whole life of memories. The rain moves down the mountain to be joined with the river.

| I don't know if there is a God... I am curious as to where life came from. How the planets and stars came about. How something came from nothing, etc. Something had to get the ball rolling.. I do not have a religion as I believe that any religion I might follow would be wrong. The bible, the koran, any book that supposedly contains the words of God were written by us humans making them all unreliable because they were open to interpretation even if there was the 100% truth at the beginning. And everyone thinks there religion is the correct one. Well I don't think anyone is right. Anyways.. ethics and morals should be common sense and that's all we need imo. I'm not knocking religion. It's what gets some people through hard times.. Not me though, I get myself through hard times with my family and my friends. -cg

| i havent believed in god in the longest time.... one big reason for my beliefs is, if there is a god, where did it come from? i do realize that the existence of the universe gives people reason to believe in god but its not enough for me. i respect your opinion if you do believe in god, but if you try to change my opinions i will go crazy (ive sworn at guys on the street that handed me sum jesus flyer n tried to tell me to believe in god and stuff) |
