No religion, but don't say I ain't spiritual.

I think that mathematics is the nature of reality, but that there is more to reality that we don't understand, like math we don't understand. Maybe cellular automata is the key and we are all part of a formula executing itself with the moments of the future as decided as the moments of the past, but I don't think so. Just as I don't think any organized religion is correct, they are clearly too detailed on the important subjects. They seem like cults to me. More likely I think as we have have organs, the planet has us and everything it has. Our self importance ruins the Earth, but we could be useful to the Earth if we wanted to ( like our minds to us?). But I think there is some spirit realm or something too with the mind or spirit of the Earth at the center. But who knows! To fight over the completely unknown is hilarious. The soldiers who do must really just want to verify their own beliefs in death is my theory on religious wars. I'll find out when I die what's up. Til then I got enough to deal with not to worry about going to heaven or anything. I love realistic spirituality. I'd love to go to a shaman instead of a doctor. I like seeing my blue aura. But to choose a religion I think is silly. I'll find out what's up when I die. And whether I wind up in Heaven or Hell, am reincarnated, find myself in the Summerland, or whatever various organized religions dictate happens upon death, I will still have a present to deal with just like now. A continuation of my own life somehow and that's my religion I guess. And if you die and you're dust and that's it, no nothing, we'll all be none the wiser anyway, right?

Edit: Oh yeah and Karma, you can watch that stuff in action anytime. It's quite real.

I was brought up a Catholic, but I drifted into Zen Buddhism gradually, and now I'd describe myself as a Buddhist. But I think enlightenment, salvation, whatever you want to call it, is attainable through any religion, provided you have good teachers. Essentially all world religions share most of their beliefs, certainly at the more esoteric level. The sad thing is that so much hate and violence have been perpetrated in the name of religion. Killing in the name of God is, to put it crudely, like ****ing for virginity.

Default I'm Roman Catholic...

but I haven't been to church in quite a long time. In fact, I wasn't ever confirmed. My daughter goes with my mom, sort of as a special "grandma day" and loves it. I do too, as I get an entire morning to myself.

I don't think I need to have a church community to have a good "relationship" or understanding with God. I do it on my own time, in my own way. I think a big reason why I believe in God, is because life seems so pointless without something. I believe there is a judgement day, where all the bad feelings I've brought to others, I too will feel and vice versa. I think that helps keep my actions in a positive light, and let the negative go.

I have some problems with the catholic religion though, like repetative prayers and calling the priest Father. I also don't like how people who donate large amounts of money get their name on a board and special recognition, it's WHAT you give, not HOW MUCH you give that's important. There's more but, religion just isn't really a major part of my life at the moment. I'm too busy taking care of my 2 little blessings, my kids.

I'm a member of an ancient pantheistic religion [philosophy?] that still cherishes a considerable amount of secrecy [people can be so... dangerous]. The Traditions have their origin in Europe, pre-rome, pre-christian, pre-written history, and are still passed down from generation to generation verbally. This is the faith I was raised with, and we have, on this continent, an unbroken tradition we can trace as far back as some of the earliest [white] settlers of America. We worship no deity [All gods are one god, and god is made in man's image.] and endeavor to end our lives wiser than when we became aware of the world around us. [you'd think that'd be easy! ]

I am one among the first generation of us to 'go public' at all. A very uncertain and uneasy experience for us all. I'm currently working on putting into writing our entire verbal history. I hope to be finished with it before I am finished altogether.

Is that what they are called? The Traditions?

That's interesting, I've truly never heard of this religion(but that just means your vow of silence was working, right?).

No, we aren't 'called' the Traditions - it is simply how we refer to our practices, beliefs, and Traditions when we do discuss them publicly. Old habits die hard.

I elected not to name my religion here simply because it would limit my control over with whom I discuss my religion more than I care to deal with. There are so many 'new age' religions, and old pagan religions reborn into new times... I dislike being mistaken for something else. Please excuse my no doubt needless, certainly out of habit, tendency to protect myself.

Default hell

After a long amount of thought on the idea of heaven and hell, I came to this conclusion. If there is a heaven and a hell, then the universe is one messed up place. Not trying to diss religion, but heres my view on it.

When somebody dies, and goes to "hell", why did they go to hell? Lets say they killed a whole bunch of people. What caused them to kill those people? I can think of two scenarios. Scenario One: They are fundamentally evil. Scenario Two: The circumstances of their life caused them to commit sins.

Now, assuming scenario one, where people are fundamentally good or evil, that kind of removes the whole point of life before death. If I'm fundamentally evil, then why waste my time here? Im just going to hell, right? If I'm fundamentally good, then I dont want to be wasting my time in this sh*t hole, I want in to heaven, right now!

Now, if peoples actions are a result of the circumstances of their life, which is A LOT more rational and logical, then what right does ANY god have to just throw them into hell or heaven for their actions, which were a result of circumstances? "Well, I put you in an abusive household. . .you became an axe murderer. . .aint that a shame?" <as he pulls the lever, and you plummet to hell>

Hope I got my message across, without offending anybody. I think that heaven and hell is just a crackpot idea that some certain individuals, or maybe a society, used to keep people in line. Kinda like the bogeyman. . ."If you dont eat your vegetables, the bogeyman will get you. . .!"

And to answer the actual question, I am drifting through my religions right now. I swear, Ive changed my religion too many times, already. Right now Im atheist/agnostic/spiritualist, if that makes sense, which it shouldn't.
