| For some people, out of body experience is the way to go. The way to have an out of body (O.B.E.) is to lay down and concentrate on the activity of having and obe. Put on some chill out tunes and let your mind travel, your body will travel with it, unless you leave it in the room and only travel to a place you create in your own mind; which can be, if you want it to be, a place that matches a place in the universal mind. If you go to a public place, like a temple (the temple), or some other place to hang-out, you can meet up with other travellers, or you can create some friends who are not also obe travellers. Mix and match or whatever. The other method is to sit in the lotus position for the length of time required to cause your spirit (and conscious mind) to ascend the room you are in by accelerating your molecules to a point of matching the higher vibration of astral planes.

| Honestly, I found it to be too frightening to continue learning AP, AT, OBE ect. I got to the point where it was just too trippy for me. Experiencing things that I really did not want to experience... Only thing is, once you get to a certain point you kind of open a door that can't be closed. So... my advice is, don't just jump into it. Do some serious research before you mess with it. Just my $0.2. |

| The reason for the fear factor is that you were in an energy vibration of excess paranoia, it is fun to obe in the paranoia, but it is also pleasant to get out of the paranoia and into the transcendental vibrations. |

| Re! After my post, I took Google to search "astral humming noise" and found a lot. And I found one that particulary express what I happened to me. It is weird because I never thought doing a search about that special night and today I'm reading people relating similar experiences. Anyway if I never searched about it is because I don't beleive it really. I guess if it was true and that people could easily reproduce it then it would be so phenomenal that all media would have gone crazy about this. Same for telekinesis. If only one people on earth was able to move a glass on a table using only his mind then tons of TV camera and reporters would have let us know and a lot of studies would begin on him.. Anyway, it was interesting to read about it. The best description I found is: ""It was a night at 2-3 am where I was sleeping while lying on my back and all of a sudden I woke up with the humming pitchy noise like a siren or something (really loud and quite scary combined with the paralysis) flooding all my body and I couldn't move anything. I tried hard to regain control and regained it a bit later on when I tried opening my eyes and moving the fingers."" Except I was no lying on my back. I was on side and all I recall is that I tried to move from sleeping on the side position to on back position. What happened is that I was like splitted in half. Like if a part of me had started to move in order to take the new position whereas the other part not. I got paralysed with a terrible loud humming, buzz sound. I was scared and try to get out of this paralysis. Like when you try to smash a door by 3-4 times. (Those who remember the Take on me videoclip from A-Ha where the guy try to get out of the cartoon life). Then I woke up. And I was sleeping again a few minutes later. This would have been better explained in french (that's why I earlier said I would not relate my story here) but I hope you could understand part of it anyway. |

| Sounds like what happens to me during a migraine. ![]() I read a lot about astral projection a while ago, but never got it to 'work.' Granted, I've never had a very successful meditation in the traditional sense, either.

| (Out of Body Experience) I had one of these one time when i went to the dentist. I know this sounds weird, but what happened was they gassed me too much i think cause ive never been that high before and i passed out. Then when i opened my eyes, i was looking down at myself in the chair. The dentist was doin somethin in my mouth. i got bored of watchin him so i kinda looked around and saw other people in thier chairs being worked on. The whole time i felt like i was somewhat in control of everything i did, but i also kinda felt really really light, like if a gust of wind came up id be blown away. I felt real stoned too, but not laughy type, just real mellow and calm. Then before i was thrown back in my body, i kida floated around the room in circles, but kinda fast. I vividly remember what it felt like and what i saw. I kept doing barrel rolls and flips, then i was kida sucked real hard back into my body. I woke up and barely remembered it and thought nothing of it. It didnt really hit me what happened until like 3 days later when i remembered it. Its really cool stuff and im into it.

| I think astral projection is all in my head....the trick is to keep it OUT of my mind. Simplified: I believe that my soul is anchored within my physical body and joined to the earth via my root or Muladhara chakra. Extinding from the root through the crown of my head and out through the Sahasrara chakra is an energy channel or nadi that connects with the greater consiousness of all other soul-possessing beings. The sensation of opening this channel and aligning the chakras opens a 'window' of sorts. Reaching this 'window' induces feelings of clarity or 'having it all figured out.' I've seen a number of postings here that describe the sensation, and I interpret what i'm feeling as having many of the same properties. Calm, relaxed, feelings of well-being and above all a feeling of connection to what is on the other side of the window. Visually (if it can even be described as that) the window initially looks like the residue that hangs in the air after a flash bulb goes off. There's a scientific name for it which escapes me, but its also believed to the origin of what people describe as 'a tunnel of light' in near death experiences. Its sort of bright spot that floats in front of my 'vision.' Once I've achieved the level of meditation necessary to able to 'see' the window, there are a number of different directions I can choose to go...one of which is what I believe we're describing as 'astral travel.' By slipping my consiousness through the 'window' the sensation is much like traveling quickly through a tube (or tunnel). The sensation of movement (or travel) is quite strong, and has on a very few occassions been disconcerting. It's difficult to descibe -- though most often fairly pleasant. But movement itself is generally not the goal. Stepping out of the stream at the right moment opens quite different meditative experiences. The biggest challenge for me feels a little like blind juggling. A myriad of things need to occur simultainiously to keep the sensation going, but if my ego (my 'thinking' mind) intervenes or interupts everything grinds to a halt. Having the discipline of mind to repress my ego for extended periods of time is what I'm currently working on in both my meditation and hatha practice. The experiences I've had to this point have been wildly intriguing. I understand that when I see or talk with someone I know is dead, or talk with or have physical contact with another 'person' also traveling the tube that these sensations are, naturally, 'all in my mind.' The question is, are they in any one else's mind as well. Afterward, the experience is much like a dream upon waking...strong at first, then gently fading. I must conciously pick and choose what I want to take from the experience before it completely fades away...and even then, sometimes I'm left with only the vagues of feelings that something spectacular has occurred, but not being able to quite put my finger on what (its that 'on-the-tip--of-my-tongue feeling' I get when trying to recount a particularrly vivid dream that I can't quite seem to remember.) The astral plane is not so unreachable as most people think. Its the place we all go to pray or worship. Its the place we go when we got lost in a piece of music or loose all track of time during particularly strenuous exersise. The ability to navigate, to move and to retain what you experience has been the pursuit of yogis, monks, priests and mystics since the beginning of time. Next time you're there, look for me...I'll be holding the yellow flag ![]() Namaste, B~
