Just curious if anyone else here has ever tried or been interested in astral travel? If so i would like to hear your thoughts on it, accomplishments, details etc lemme know if you are into it.

Hmm can you divulge a little bit more on why you think its all in your head?

Basically, astral projection is a concept of seperating your spirit from your body, like out of body experiences.

But Astral Projection is experiencing it by willing it to happen through meditation.
Then moving around your spirit's 'body', in either the astral plane (a magical, elvish, dream world, where beings of love gather and play) or in the physical world (like a ghost)

There are literally hundreds of "5 easy steps to astral projection!" sites on the internet.
It's fun to read on and to try, if you really get into it.

Believer or not, you actually do physically experience sensations described (before projecting), if you try hard enough. Like strong body vibrations, a feeling of pulling or force and a loud electronic humming noise.

But being a somewhat of a sceptic, I think the rest of the experience is all in your head, its alot like a lucid dream.. rather than actual magical planar travel.

Anywho, there are much much easier ways to seperate your 'spirit' from your body!!
Just smoke some (illicit substance) or inhale (illicit substance) or make some tea with (illicit substance) or inject some (illicit substance) or deprive yourself of sleep and drink lots of (illicit substance) or go to bed and hope for some lucid dreaming.

Hmm the only problem i have with agreeing that this whole concept of astral travel is all in my head is that i know in fact this whole reality that i have unfolded in front of my eyes for 19 years is also just in my head.

I dont know, i have had a couple experiences with astral travel that are just really hard to explain in anyway but that this could possibly be true. I think that the human mind is an incredibly powerfull tool that we have not yet grasped its potential enough to discredit ideas like this.

I dont know, im crazy so its easy for me to believe this is real.

Just wanted to see if i was the only one around here interested in the subject.

I don't know much on this subject, but i read the previous posts and had a thought.

If indeed everything you have seen of these other realities you have seen either with a 3rd eye or just general insight, then really everything you have seen is bias. If you think about it, everything you ever do is bias.

Bias to what you ask? Well, you of course. You are you, your mind is your own, and your thoughts unique, but at the same time you bias everything towards your goal (subconscious or not).

So if you wish to leave this reality and explore others and _KNOW_ that you are not just making something up in your head due to a bias, then i think you need to experience Ego Death.

And to do that, requires some help from a not entirely legal substance.

TheCleric: My reasoning isn't very deep, I simply don't believe in things such as a spirit, or soul. I just see the brain as a computer, and any experience such as an OBE, is just your "computer" programming its own little world. Don't get me wrong though, I still do find the practice pretty interesting and can definately see the potential for spiritual enlightenment and exploration. It's just not my thing.

EDIT: ikari, what you are talking about sounds a lot like the state of "mindfulness" that is explained and taught through a book AlphaWolf posted a link to in this thread. You might want to check it out.

wow.. "electronic humming noise" catched my attention. While I was sleeping once a few years ago, something special happenned. I won't relate all the story here but I would like to read more on this.

Can you point me where they talk about the humming noise?
