For more than seven years, the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors and turning its bases in the peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples.

I would say so, for the most part. Actually, we've been interfering for several decades.

It's not that I care about the middle east, I just care about when they attack and hate us because of what some higher-ups decided to do.

The major problem is from the big 3 religions, killing each other. If only we could get rid of religion!

I only started hearing about this really after 9/11. (my 10th birthday I think..)
I remember getting on my school bus, and it was on the rradio and then my teacher was gone, and all day the sub talked about it.. That was a depressing birthday.

but I live in Canada..
humans are evil, and we're just coming to another war. Hopefully we'll kill each and every last human off, and then this planet can thrive.

I completely disagree. OUr military has not been stationed permeantly anywhere in the middle east to dictate to governments until just recently. HOw are we humilating arabs? And the arabs try to exert more foreign pressure on America than we do on them through oil ecenomics.

A monetary presence works just as well as a military one to prop up favourable administrations.

I do think it's unfair to pin everything on the USA, though. Everybody's at it: Europe's as knee deep (oftentimes in opposition to US oppinion: "freedom fries") in puppet regimes, administerial corruption and political blackmail as anywhere else.

But for the most part I have to agree, though I'd extend the rule to all other major powers.

Yes, I believe that, for the most part. However, most 'regular' people in the middle east still support us. It's just that enough middle easteners don't like it, and turn to radical extremism. In the past several years, we've pissed more and more of these regular folks, and we're turning more and more of them into jihadists.

I don't like how the government is saying "Osama Bin Laden and the terrorists hate freedom and democracy." In all of the videos of Osama that I've seen, he's NEVER said he hated freedom. The terrorists are just wanting us to get out of their land, for the most part.

We generally stay clear of "the holiest places" within Iraq as much as possible. However this usually just makes a nice comfy spot for insurgents. I don't think we should be there but I think the military does exercise caution in regards to religious/sacred areas whenever they can. I do believe that they do try to be sensitive to Islam.

This I don't believe or agree with. Spending 300 billion dollars to plunder what riches? Oil? That makes no sense at all economically.

Sure looks like that after what we did in Iraq, I would be nervous and frightened about what could happen next. Hell, I am and I'm not there.

I dont think that statement is the kind of thing that can get a blanket yes or no. That statement insinuates that the entire united states has conspired to rape and pillage the muslim people and that we wish to dominate and rule the entire region solely for our economic gain. This I do not agree with at all.

Our president is a complete moron that has severely fucked up and further complicated an already complex situation in the middle east. As a "super power" the US has the ability and resources to help stabalize the region and I do believe that is what most people want, however with our recent actions I think weve burned bridges, put ourselves in a terrible light and placed ourselves in a position where we can't be trusted by many of these people. And that should make things much harder in the comming years.

The US has a bad government but good people with good intentions. I can see where that statement comes from and see how things can be viewed that way. I don't think we have been or will become raiders, pirates or marauders with a sole intent of destroying the muslim people and taking whatever we want from them.

You know, for the longest time I was so outspoken against Bush and the war. Then I just got tired of doing it. Is that bad? Are we being worn down to no longer complain about gas prices and the war as much? Are we finding it easier to just keep our mouths shut because we can't do anything anyway?

This is not a democracy. This is fascism.
