| Tziporah...shalom shalom! Of course I left the Hebrew Tanakh at the in-laws so I'm sitting here with the English racking my brain trying to remeber if it was a "yud" "mem" ending giving the plural possesive(masculine plural?) But now that I'm thinking it through, bosm (besm) would be singular, bosm'im (besm'im) would be plural. Now my search is for the etymology of the bosm or besm especially as you point out the use of the term s'mim to mean "any drug" as opposed to any spice! Interesting that it is a word specific to the intoxicant effect of the subject, not it's sweet smell. I found this in my research. Etymologist Sara Benetowa of the Institute of Anthropological Sciences in Warsaw discovered in 1936, the connection between kaneh bosm in the Old Testament as the original Semitic Hebrew origins of the word cannabis. That was in Poland right before WWII -- I'm curious to see if Sara survived the Shoah/Holocasut. Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1980 confirmed this information as correct. The five passages that experienced the "missing" are Exodus 30:23; Song of Solomon 4:14; Isaiah 43:24; Jeremiah 6:20; & Ezekiel 27:19. At the conclusion of Shabbat on Saturday at sundown an intimate ritual is held in the home dividing the sabbath day from the rest of the week, and in that ceremony a Spice Box is brought out and it's fragrance inhaled to sense the sweetness of the Sabbath and prepare for the coming of a fresh new week. The box is referred to this day as a Besmim Box... and a prayer is said that basically translates to: Blessed art Thou oh Lord, King of the Universe who has granted us the "full enjoyment" of besmim, Amen ...Papa and I use Kaneh-besmim -- and everything old is new again ![]() For a wonderful reference to this material the following link is great. Kaneh Bosm This conversation is so cool And as we say here in the south ...shavuah tov (Good Week) ![]() ~ have a cookie ![]() Hugz Mama Budz | |

| Found these ones interesting - maybe the bible promotes legalization? ![]() ...eat every herb of the land (Exodus 10:12). He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man. ...(Psalm 104:14). |

| Banned | Personally I dont believe smoking weed is a sin. I believe that now a days smoking is considered a sin because of so much greed invovled with it. People ripping each other offf, stealing each other's sacks, even selling has greed written all over it. That is why smoking is sinful. With a product worth so much, ego's and greed will drive some off the edge. But I admire those who can try to be giving and not let greed get invovled with their smoking. It's a hard thing to explain because weed and greed go hand and hand. |

| New Member | i personally dont think that smoking is a sin, however, if you want to look biblically, it says that man should obey all laws of the land and that man should honor his body because it is where the spirit subsides. sorry dont mean to sound legalistic, i am not a scholar, just my thoughts. |

| New Member | When Chris Bennet and a few other scholars are right, Kaneh Bosm, one of the main ingredients of the holy anointing oil has been cannabis. Read some testimonies from people who used this oil, made by the original recepy, here : http://www.thc-ministry.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=33 it's amazing. have a happy day!

| New Member | The more people who know about this the better as it promotes free thinking as well as healing a lot of diffrent things Its like christ (annointed one) said the truth sets us free If everyone knew about this the goverment would have to change its policies as it is infinging on people religious beliefs since most in the states and the uk are christians (annointed ones) It is about time the truth was made more public and the world will begin to lighten up a bit This would stop alot of kids who now smoke feeling they are doing something rebelious and bring it back to being a holy plant Stop all the gangster taking control of something that belongs to God

| New Member | Mama, can you go a little further with the words used in the original Hebrew? I love this thread and would really appreciate some further examples. What are the exact words used in each of the five times it is referred to in the old text? Is it exactly the same each time it is referred to? Where does tziporah's references to kinman bes'em, u'kneh-bosem, and smim come from? The post was on the first page of this thread. As many questions as I am asking, you would think that I am a toddler instead of an old geezer. I don't believe that any modern day Falwell/Roberts type christian would admit to this being true even if their noses were to be rubbed in it. May I have a cookie, please? |
