Cool, I hadn't studied any of that, pretty much a new testament type of guy...

Being a Christian, I try to stick to the teachings of Christ, and unless he references the old testament, I consider that to be Judaism, not Christianity.

Thanks 420budz

Mat 5:27

(BBE) You have knowledge that it was said, You may not have connection with another man's wife:

(ESV) "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.'

(GW) "You have heard that it was said, 'Never commit adultery.'

(KJVR) Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

Multiple translations in case the one I picked was out of context or something, Gotta love E-Sword.

Are you advocating adultery Trocisp? What is so bad about saying that to have another mans wife is wrong, I believe it is...

Or were you referring to the later passage about plucking out ones eye and cutting off ones arm?

Hey, if mine eye or arm offend me, I'll do just that, fortunately I'm not easily offended, and take his forgive those who offend you statements to heart... My arm and eye really appreciate that.

Thanks for the pointer though. Got any more, I'm starting to enjoy this...

And I get to chose to ignore the old ifn I want. It's a whole different God if you ask me which is why Jesus told the pharisees that they worshiped satan n stuff, not that I know anything tho, I never went to seminary or anything...

Peace and Love, but most of all is Love. 1 Corinthians 13 or something...

Yeah, I was more talking about ripping ones own eyeball out if you "lusted" after a woman. Not for me thank you!

Ignore the old half of the "good book" if you like, I'm just saying in the new half it says the old half is 100% to be believed.

This is one of the reasons that the common "Holy Bible" is not the scripture I look to first. The Aquarian Gospel listed im my sig is what I would consider my "Bible" However, I feel like your earlier sentiment (maybe in a different thread) regarding the idea that the "Holy Bible" is 100 percent the word of God. Too many translations, too many fingers in the pot so to speak. While it has some valuable information, I don't consider it 100% accurate.

I didn't look at those other scriptures you cited about the old testament, but I'll check em out later. I'll let you know my opinion of them if I have one.

You know a lot about the bible Trocisp, and for that I respect your opinion, sorry for outright ignoring them, that was kind of rude. Nothin' but love for ya Trobro...

Shure he does if we are talking about the old testament, but the new and improved "God" of the new testament wants nothing but loving respect...

Does this "new" commandment add to the previous ten, or does it replace them?

My take is it replaces them for if you follow this one, you can't possibly break any of the previous ten which moses gave us. I haven't memorized the bible enough to know where exactly it is, but he said this at the last super right before he gave us an example of what he meant by washing the feet of his disciples. He was teaching by that action to serve each other as he (the master) served his disciples. He always led by example. If you know of any instances where he did other than he taught, I'd love to know where.

The next one is the same teaching from a different writer. It adds the following though.

Quote:

I wouldn't teach anyone to disobey the ten commandments by telling them to follow Jesus' "new" commandment, in fact I teach just what I said above... I figure Jesus thought that maybe the ten were just too complicated for the stupid people to get so he simply simplified.

It also doesn't say that you would be damned, it says you'd be named least "in the kingdom of heaven".

I'm hoping that I don't have to go through the same thought from all 4 books here. The bible is one of the most redundant books in existence, and this is why I name the Aquarian Gospel as my bible, no redundancies, and a complete biography from birth to death.

The next one is the previous verse to the last one, stating that he didn't come to put an end to the law or the prophets. This is actually your best argument so far, however, it doesn't say I'll be damned for following the new testament over the old.

Nothing in 2 Timothy 3:16 says I'll be damned, it is more of a testimony of the goodness of all of Gods word.

(BBE) Every holy Writing which comes from God is of profit for teaching, for training, for guiding, for education in righteousness:

I would agree with that sentiment, but don't think it really supports your thought that I'll be damned if I fail to study the old testament.

You didn't specify which chapter of Peter those verses were from, so I'll skip that one. There are only three chapters but I have better things to do than read the bible...

And you failed to specify which of the three books of John.

So I guess that is it.

I follow Jesus because he makes sense to me. If he doesn't make sense to you that is cool, don't follow him. I don't have any problem with that whatsoever. I'd hope you'd apply the golden rule to this and allow me the freedom to do as I feel I should as I allow you the same respect.

I have a feeling that you will 'cause yer cool that way...

Peace and Love
