Would you like me to trot out a list of the atrocities committed in the last 2,000 years by the folks who follow your "savior"? I haven't noticed that the world has been much improved by whatever Jesus did back then or by his followers in the years since. I did notice that more than 100,000,000 million people were killed in wars or by their own government during the 20th Century.

I might if you'd show some respect for people who don't follow your party line.

And also I love how you said the big bang was made from nothing. Then what was God made of?

Through hours of thinking I have concluded that everything happens for a reason. And that there is some controlling force that watches us and everything we do. He may show himself or herself at times to some people and it may not show itself ever. It is not ignorant, it only holds good qualities that are used wisely. It watches everything we do and lets us go down our own path.

It can stop us and it can lead us but no matter what its there.

Well thats my two cents I flip and flop between atheism and belief but I can say I'm a atheist when I'm angry at god and i accept god as true when im not angry

Prove your False Idol(s) to me! If you can't believe the science behind the big bang theory then how in the hell can you believe in such a mythical being who just magically appears and creates the entire universe? BUT we are each entitled to our own opinions, and IMO, I think your opinion is a load of malarky.

now i have a question for you. how did you become a part of your religion? every christian that i know started practicing their beliefs because of what their parents practiced. although i know several non-christians with christian parents.

If you did own a Satanic Bible and "believed with faith", if would be true to you.

funny thing is, greek mythology was once a common religion just as christianity is now.
Probably Paul (the Apostle) while visiting Athens put an end to it.
From the Bible KJV:
" Now while Paul waited for them (Timothy and Silas) at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry (e.g. statues, images or any object used as aid to worship false gods or the true God). Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
" Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans (followers of Epicurus. They taught that the highest aim of man was to seek a pleasant and smooth life.) and of the Stoicks (they taught that man's happiness consisted in bringing himself into harmony with the course of the universe.), encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

" Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill (the Areopagus or rocky hill in Athens where the Athenian supreme tribunal and court of morals was held), and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you." (Acts 17:16-18, 22-23)

It has been called that by some since it started.

I never considered myself religious. Religious is a word that can be used for about anything, such as religiously smoking dope. I "used" to consider myself a "Spirit Filled Born Again Christian". Not anymore. I really don't know for sure where I stand on my beliefs or relationship with God.
Quote:

My parents where heathens. They had nothing to do with it. It was a "choice" that I made as an adult. I read the Bible, several times. Started attending a church. Did a little preaching, music, taught some adult Bible study, etc. I see how "some/most/a few" where nothing believed what suited their fancy. I found I was starting to do the same. Considered I didn't like it and don't attend church, Bible studies, etc. anymore.

At this point in my life I don't know where I stand with God and actually it doesn't concern me at the moment. I do like to get into discussions on the Bible and it still amazes me how many so called "Christians", don't have a friggin' clue what they are talking about. The closest most come to the Bible is carrying it to church on Sunday so they look all Holy.

Hope you are having a good weekend. Happy 4th of July to you all.

just for the record, i didnt want it to seem like i was "calling you out." at first i was associating you with what ive seen in many christians, and i now realized i was wrong.sorry.

most open christians that i have talked to are pretty closed minded and dont respect others beliefs. these people will say extraordinary things, and when asked to back it up, all they do is say "well the bible says its true." well no shit your bible says its true. you cant really get much more of a biased source than that.
then these people will start telling me that im going to hell because i dont accept jesus as my savior. i dont walk around telling you that heaven and hell dont exist.

i can respect anybody's religon. i have some beliefs that most people think are "out there", so i try to give different relgions the same type of respect that i would want my beliefs to get. i dont have a problem with the christian religion, i have a problem with its followers.

Jesus himself describes the people that you are talking about.

The greatest challenge in Christianity today is recognizing that your preacher may be mistaken about the gift of grace being more significant than works.

There are many instances where Jesus describes his true and false followers.

I had a fundamentalist Christian explain it to me once. He stated quite matter of factly that all you have to do is believe that Jesus came, that he preached, that he died on the cross for everyone's sins, and that after 3 days he was resurrected. if you believe this, you hold in your hand the key to heaven. It doesn't have anything to do with what you do, just what you believe. It is a gift of grace, not a reward for your good works. You can't do anything to earn it.

However, Christ pointed out how you would know his followers in that they keep his commandments. His only commandment was to love each other. These Christians you speak of, are they following this commandment?

Showing love for one you despise is a difficult job. But this is the clear message of the good Samaritan parable, Jewish people despised Samaritan's, yet Jesus uses it to illustrate just whom one should consider ones neighbor.

Jesus came as a pattern more than something to worship. The job of his followers is to model their life after the pattern he gave. Those who do not aren't his true followers. I would even go so far to say that anyone who worships Jesus or the bible is practicing idolatry.

Sorry, that sort of turned into a sermon or something.

Jesus also had some interesting things to say about Greece in the Aquarian Gospel listed in my signature. Why get only Paul's perspective. In the end, he loved the people of Greece. I guess that means his followers should as well.

Peace and Love
