| Here's my opinion and some stories and reasoning: I'm a Christian, I have been all my life. My parents forced it on me and for the longest time I really didn't buy into it. My mom was diagnosed with a form of leukemia a while back and it wasn't looking very good. She had a ton of people praying for her and whatnot, and a year later the leukemia went into remission. That's not even close to what was supposed to happen, but it did for some reason. That's what got me thinking. I remembered seeing a documentary on the Shroud of Turin, the shroud that supposedly covered Jesus when he rose from the dead. Check The Shroud of Turin Website for details on it, and I'm sure there are more websites on google. It's quite fascinating. Now, I'm not sure how familiar some of you are with the Bible, so I'll give the run down on my next reasoning. In the Old Testament, Moses is leading his people to the promised land while fleeing from the Egyptians. In order to make a clean get away, they somehow had to cross the Red Sea. Story goes that he parted the sea and he and his followers ran across. When the Egyptians tried to follow, the walls of water came crashing down on them. My mom went to a museum exhibit about something related to this and came back with some really crazy information: while exploring the bottoms of the Red Sea, they came across what looked like remnants of chariots and chariot wheels, most likely used in the Egyptian era. It made me wonder how else they could get there. For more info, I found Red Sea Crossing to be helpful. Again, a google search will produce more results. While these things speak to me as evidence, they may not to you, and that's alright. I'm just sharing my opinion. I'm of the thinking, hey, if I'm wrong, what's going to happen to me when I die? Nothing. But what if you're wrong? |

Although what if you're wrong, and it's truly a Muslim god, or a Zoroaster god?

I was directing that part more toward the god vs. atheism debate. If the athiests are indeed correct, nothing is going to happen when I die, but you bring up a good point.

| To those who say "I'd rather believe and find out im wrong, then to not believe and find out christianity was true." Wouldn't the all knowing God know this about you, thus knowing you were only "believing" out of fear of the reprecussions if you didn't? Do you think he'd just accept your fear based belief like, "better than nothing I guess." Someone answer me on this topic, because it bugs me when people say shit like that |

| "my approach is to know, and knowing is a totally different dimension. it starts from doubt, it does not start from believing. the moment you believe in something, you have stopped inquiring. belief is one of the most poisonous things to destroy human intelligence. all the religions are based on belief; only science is based on doubt. i would like the religious inquiry also to be scientific, based on doubt, so that we need not believe but we can come to know someday the truth of our being, and the truth of the whole universe." -osho like theistic and atheistic beliefs are both just beliefs; orange and blue are both just colors. you shouldn't take me seriously though...or should you? ![]() |
