But anyways, let me get to the point here. The Bible was written by man. It contains the stories of a mythology from the past, written by writers who believed in something. But why would you consider this book written by man as the Word of God?

I think you have to find the Divine, you can't read about it.

as much as i hunger for knowledge the bible is one book i just couldnt read. its too g*ddamn boring! i dunno, maybe its my youth. anyway, its my understanding that the men who wrote the original book were inspired and guided by the most enlightened man ever to walk this land (and this water ). if the stories of christ are true then his words were as close to the words of god as you can get. however, this book has been tampered with and abused for centuries and is now officially corrupt. to call it the word of god now would be blasphemy in my opinion...hope i didnt piss anyone off.

You didnt piss me off, Ganjax, anyways I believe that there is something, that has a devine controll over the universe. But I do not believe that the bible, has anything to do with it. The bible is full of totally farfetched and exaggerated storys, of what really happened. The bible is true to the sence that it contains a great and accurate history of early cultures, and governments, other than that its just a crock full of fairy tails. Also the fact that the bible actually makes empty threats to its readers, by saying pretty much in a nutshell, join my religon or your going to burn forever in hell, pisses me off. If the bible didnt contain that part, then I prob would be a believer, but it contains that, and all I believe now is that the book was written by some really good con-artists.

I used to think the same way. I never believed that GOD would give us a book to read. It just seemed too simplistic. But after I stopped judging the Bible and actually started to read it, I gained so much knowledge and understanding of GOD. The reason I believe that the bible is the truth, is simply because everything starts with words. The bible is called the word. John 1 says that the word is GOD. All knowledge that we attain is given to us by words. Our parents' words shape our speech. Behind all of our thoughts are sentences filled with words. Words of foolishness, words of wisdom. Our tongue is said to be like a rudder of a huge ship. Although a ship is huge, it is moved by a small wheel. Our mouths point us in the direction we want to go in. Anyway I'm getting off topic....but I thought someone said that the bible has been tampered with. From the year 1611 when the king james bible was written, the kjv is still the same translation today. That's impossible! If a book can last that long without being tampered with, without one word changed, I think its easy to say that this book had to be inspired by GOD. Even the works of Plato, Socrates, and other philosophers have shown many drafts that are incongruent to each other.

Many people believe in evolution. Many people accept the idea of carbon dating to see how old a tree is. There are no facts that prove any of these theories. To believe in evolution takes great faith. Far more faith than believing in creation. Yet, since the propaganda is shoved down our throats, we accept it as truth when there is no proof that evolution (macro, not micro) is true. Micro evoultion, for an example would be to see that you are taller than your grandfather. Macro would be to believe that you came from bacteria. If there is anyone who can actually prove the theory of evolution I would be glad to hear it. I know a man, who is offering 250,000 dollars to anyone that can prove evolution is true.
If anyone thinks they can, I will give you his e-mail.
Anyway, I went on tangeants, but I am just trying to say that there are many things out there that many of you might put blind faith in, where there is no proof that supports the theories you acccept as truth.

Although I believe GOD is found through reading the Word, I do believe that experiencing GOD is very important. Like one Native American says: Most Christians go to church on sunday to hear about Christ, but we eat the mushroom in our house and talk to Christ. I thought that was a tight quote. I believe GOD reveals himself through his word and the presence accompanies the reading of the Word. I also think that GOD could have given the Indian the mushroom, so he can understand the Word without the bible; since many don't have access to any bibles.

I respect your opinion of a GOD. I believe that you can believe whatever you want, that is the basis of the American Government (nomatter how corrupt it is) and is what our nation was founded opon. I personally dont believe in the bible because it doesnt sound like anything I wanna be apart of. I have read, for the most part the whole bible, because my whole family is a 'believer.' Why would you want to give up your freedom in life for something, that your not even sure is really there. Sure you can say that your life is fun with christ, but you know deep down inside you wish that you wish that you could do whatever the **** you want. Even though yes you have to draw the line, and that is what there are laws for. But the bible takes it a step farther by makin up other laws that you have to follow also, the Commandments if you will. Also I would like to point out that bonghits4christ, this is meant in noway to be a diss to ya, but you do not follow the Law Of The Land, very well, because after all weed is against the law of the land. You can also bring The Law Of The Land point all the way down to your school, and say that the bible can also mean that Law of The Land, is your school rules, or your house rules. Giving you as a human being, no freedom to do anything. Because in a nutshell, running with in the halls, will get you sent to hell. And you can argue the point with me, until the sun comes up, but in point whether you except it or not thats how the bible works. As you can say that no man is perfect, thats what the bible even says, the bible also contradicts itself, by sayin if you want to go to heaven, then you have to be perfect. You can also argue this point with me, all day long but essentually, thats what it means, and if you dont believe me ask your preacher. That yes in order to get into heaven you have to be without sin. Most different forms of chirstianty believe this, except for the baptists, for they believe that once your forgiven you can do whatever the **** you want, and still get into heaven, but this is also in contradiction with the bible just like the bible is in contradiction with itself. So in a nut shell, the bible, as in a whole picture does not, and I mean DOES NOT, make a single piece of sence. As for your challenge to prove evolution true, I will deal with that in my next reply.

Although, bonghitsforchrist, I cannot at this moment, prove that evolution is fact, because I dont have any evidence on me (Damn, I left it in my other pants..... )
But I will give you something to think about. Dinosaurs. One word sums it up for ya. If what the bible says is true, then where is all the dinosaurs during this whole time. I dont know the exact date, but somewhere around 50,000,000 years ago a comet hit the earth, and killed off all the dinosaurs. For millions of years after that, the earth was a dead, cold frozen place. From the ruins of the once popualted dinosaur planet, evolved mammals. The cavemen that everone is familar with, this is where they came from. After the planet started to warm up, and the Ice Age ended, most of the animals that lived during the Ice Age, evolved into what we know today, humans too. You can tell becasue of the gorilla. The Gorilla, is basically a very hairy, dumb, human being. But once taught the gorilla becomes, more and more human. I know that you have heard of Cocoa, the gorilla that was taught sign language. Now I know your thinking, What in this world is this guy talking about, a gorilla is almost a human?!?! But gorillas are different from humans, becasue they do not have the ability, to talk, as far as humans can tell, and their faces look nothing like a humans, and they are all hairy. But what other mammal is there out there, that has 5 fingers, 2 eyes, a nose, 2 legs, 2 arms, a mouth, and hair all over their body. Their is no other mammal out there that is close to the monkey, and its resemblence to a human being, if you can find one, I would like to know what it is. Also what other mammal is smart enough to learn sign language? If humans didnt evolve from monkeys, then I would like to know how we got here, mr bonghitsforchrist, and please use facts. I believe I made my point.

The bible mentions dinosaurs in the book of Isaiah and Job. I need to get the verses but I will come back with a post and give em to you so you can check em out.

I got a verse that may catch your interest. The verse calls it a behemoth. These animals were described in detail thousands of years before studies of dinosaurs began in the 1850's. Job 40:15 says:

(15) Look now at the behemoth,which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox.
(16) See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles.
(17)He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.

His tail was like a cedar, so it wasn't an elephant or hippo. Dinosaurs carry their strength in toward the rear of the body, just like verse 16 describes. (I think this describes the brachiosaur)

Mr. Bonghits4christ, yes I know about this verse very well. About a year ago at my church, we had a guest speaker, which "explained" to us, dinosaurs, and all this other crap. He said that dinosaurs were on Noahs Ark, and all this other stuff. But thats not the point Im trying to make. The point Im trying to make is, that the bible is filled with alot of exaggerated storys. So this behemoth, could be anything from King Kong, to a dragon. What I am trying to say is that the is bible in most aspects, is very much true, but it's exaggerated so much, that it is also not true, at the same time. The book is a collection of different fairy tails, written by different authors, over the corse of a 1000 years. I believe that yes, Jesus was a real man. Do I believe he was the son of GOD? No. I believe that Jesus was a really trippy guy who had some weird ideas. I can go as far as to say, if Jesus was among us today, he wouldnt be concidered, much more than a bumb on street, tryin to bumb some cash to buy some booze. Thats my opinion, if you want believe in GOD, more power to ya. I am not tryin to change your opinion, Im just tellin ya mine. And I hope you still believe in GOD, if it hopes you cope with death, then go for it I dont have a problem with it. Death is an unescapable obstical, for which GOD or a deal with the devil will not save you from. But if you choose to believe that GOD will save you in the afterlife, and if I am wrong, ILL SEE YA IN HELL BONGHITS4CHRIST, just kidding
