So I read on msnbc.com that smoking weed/doing drugs is a sin. This came from the vatican, so I guess it like another one of those 7 deadly sins. I want to know what is everyones opinion about smoking bud being a sin?

The vatican doesn't know anything. If there is a god s/he wouldn't listen to what they had to say s/he'd make his/her own decisions. If there's a god why would s/he create a plant that is supposed to have no use. Seems like a waste of creation from a god who's supposed to be creating all things to be good. I'm sorry if theres any Christians here who I am offending but that's just my opinion. Here's a quote from the bible that I think goes against the Vatican.

Quote:

Gen 1:11-12 obviously doesn't apply to every use every plant has. Hemlock, for instance, is very poisonous, but still has certain uses.

The argument that the Marijuana plant (Cannabis) still has "good" is easy to make, rope for instance, is extremely strong when made of hemp.

True but why is it still illegal to grow hemp in America? but I guess that's a little off the topic anyway.

But Hemlock is legal to grow and harvest in the US. And its deadly.
Ignore what the Vatican says about sin. They're still figuring out whether its a sin to fuck little alter boys in the ass.

I'm sorry, was this thread in the legal forum or the religion forum?

Two completely different issues. Separation of Church and State. Or have you not read that pesky little constitution yet?

No, I'm trying to generate a dictatorship where we will all be forced to smoke marijuana 3 times a day.

I stopped believing in sin a few years ago. That word is meaningless to me. It's just a term people use to try to make themselves feel like they're a better person than someone else. Make them feel like God approves of their behavior.

No one on this earth is completely conscious. Every single one of us is doing what seems right to us given our individual life's circumstances.

A terrorist who kills 50 people is no more a sinner than an enlightened holy man (and the holy man would probably agree). He's causing lots of turmoil and heartache for the families of the victims, and he's making life harder for many people, but he is not committing an action that an all-powerful God will hold against him. There is no such thing as sin. Once we're all dead, nothing that we did on earth will mean anything.

Please. The only reason sex isn't a sin is because it would cut down on the membership.
Seriously, everything is a sin if it's deemed so. Even the use of condoms as means to protect against pregnancy (nothing clear for intent from STD's) is stilll a sin.

Saavedra, it's only a sin if you think it is. I don't think it's one.

You know what they say about Catholicism, if it feels good, it's a sin.
