And yet they too were returned to the parents. The case fell apart when the authorities failed to investigate the matter in a correct and PROFESSIONAL manner.

Polygamist Kids Will Be Returned to Parents | KHON2.com - News, Sports, Weather | KHON News

Quote:
After being removed off the west Texas polygamist ranch nearly two months ago, the state Supreme Court ruled that more than 450 children should be returned to their parents
Two months is a LONG time for a 5 year old child. They'll never forget this and could be traumatized for life.

When you're a parent and you make the life altering decision to guide and unconditionally love a child, it allows you to get a deep understanding of the sensitive nature of a childs feelings. You have to care about a childs feelings as they are extremely vulnerable at those early years.
Once again, I'm with you as feelings have to matter or nothing matters.

I guess there's the answer to my question... no you haven't.

"The department did not present any evidence of danger to the physical health and safety of any male children or any female children who had not reached puberty."

No, the very reason we have a system of laws is to prevent feelings from interfering with punishments for crimes.

The core of the American legal system, and most modern legal systems in general is that emotions have no place in the courtroom. They are not what needs to be taken into consideration.

For every single person who has ever been murdered, I suspect there is at least 1 person who is angry enough about it to kill the person who did it. If we let their emotions influence how we punished the guilty, no doubt that every death would result in a death penalty case.

Bottom line is that when considering legal issues, emotions are not the primary concern. And, in fact, shouldn't be a concern at all.

And lastly... Vicki, there's absolutely nothing wrong with me (with the exception of the aforementioned skinning people alive! ), so you can take your mistaken opinion that I don't care about peoples feelings and shove it. Because I do care about peoples feelings, I just think that feelings have no place in the court room, just like they have no place in government.
Staff Note: Again, folks can disagree without telling folks to shove their opinion. Infraction given.

You know what happens when people let feelings get in the way of government and law? Injustice. Someone is fearful of black people, so they should be 'Separate but equal.'

No, feelings have no place in a court of law.

Mistaken opinion? You are the one that said on numerous occasions that feelings do not matter. It is not my mistaken opinion, it is what you said, and I disagree with you. As I know many others here do too. I'm sorry you feel I have to "shove" my opinion. I never said that to you. I disagreed with you, plain and simple. IMO, there is somthing wrong with a person that thinks feelings don't matter, in any case.

I'll say it, yet again.....gov't's and people make mistakes, and they HURT people. That is not ok with me.

There is a great deal of doubt now that any of them were in danger. Especially the 20 year old children.

Justice needs to have a heart and soul and take into consideration the feelings of those involved when dealing with this TYPE of case.

Actually, the state has enough evidence at this point to assume 5 children were abused according to many articles, and popssible charges are still likely. If they don't have proof, the case will fall apart. If they do have proof, I hope those responsible for ANY abuse are charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law

I'm not saying it isn't. What I am sayiong is that if anyone is found to be abused, that someone be held responsible. Just because this raid wasn't done perfectly doesn't mean that any child should be left in an abusive home or that someone should get a free pass to continue to molest children.

Its like taking all the children from an elementary school because a couple of them MAY have been abused. Guilt by association is wrong. You don't kill an ant with an atom bomb and thats what the authorities did. They needed to do something called police work and determine IF a crime had be committed and against whom. Once they determined that, then take the kids inot protective custody.
