I have no sympathy for pedophiles seeking the protection of a church to hide their dirty deeds. If i was Satanic, the 1st Amendment doesn't allow me to sacrifice children on Halloween. I don't see this as being any different. No 13-16 year old should be forced to have sex and/or get married, especially to multiple men. Whats wrong is wrong, and joining a church to CYA (cover your ass) does n't somehow make it OK. I hope they get this mess sorted out, and that those involved pay for their choices

I already said I don't believe in murder or human sacrafice. I do believe that we need to set a standard of how we enforce the freedom of religion.

In Muslim law a man is allowed to have three wives if he can afford them. I think we need to realize that we have set a double standard as far as polygamy. The christian right has impressed upon our society the religious mores of their beliefs. We can't change the world. Several wars have been fought because of someone believing that they had the right to dictate to someone else the way they should live their life.......

Look at it this way....Mormons were the most persecuted group in the U.S. at one time. When they moved to Utah they were armed theirselves and refused to take any more shit off the government.

Good thing these people believe in non-violence, or we might have had another Waco, huh?

It's not the polygamy that bothers me but the pedophilia. I guess I should have made that clear.

I don't think we'd be kicking down doors if there was a polygamist compound of 30-year-olds. But these are kids.

I agree 100%. Lately, it seems like the gov't is questioning all our rights. I can't even believe they questioned the right to bear arms. There is freedom of religion, but does the gov't have the right to step in when they don't agree with everything in a certain religion, or how they practice their religion? Apparently, yes. People have been hiding behind religion for their misdeeds for a long time, and now it's hurting freedom of religion, and that should scare everyone. Whether your religious, or not. For obvious reasons. I hope I'm not the only one that has noticed how the gov't is trying to question our rights.

Don't take this response as me saying I approve of what may or may not have happened to those young girls. It's not that at all. It just worries me when the gov't starts questioning the rights we were given as citizens over 220 years ago. Where does it stop? Seriously?

Also, I didn't know if anyone noticed that this whole situation started out with a hoax call, but it did.

I really hate to bring this up, but to me, the important part of this is not the actoins of a small segment of society, but what this does to our freedoms? I cring everytime we pull a raid like this. Waco and Ruby Ridge and Oklahoma City and everything else......

I'll tell ya truthfully, we need to monitor our government a lot closer than we do and stop them from going too far. All the signers of the Constitution believed that these rights were above all others. At force of arms if neccesary...... That's what the Revolution was about, a government gone mad........

I just wonder where we draw the line? How far can we allow this to go before it's too far.......

The spirit of this country is revolution to free ourselves of the tyrants yoke....How heavy does that yoke get before you throw it off?

Prosecute those who've been indicted and issue a social order detailing the compound's children to be at risk. With close coordination between the compound's families and children and social services you can keep things in check without infringing on anybody's religious freedom - I'm not even really seeing how this is a religious freedoms issue.

...Not followed the case, though. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

It's about the gov't deciding for us, instead of us deciding for ourselves. It's not just freedom of religion. I can't believe people aren't noticing how the gov't is questioning our very rights as put forth in the Constitution. The right to bear arms, getting involved in religious situations, etc.

Damn, now bible classes are starting to come back to me. Things I was taught about the end times when I was younger.
