I said "Yes, punishment is evil. It uses fear to control and fear is a wicked master."

What you said is all fear inspired speculation. You don't need to use punishment to teach. In fact it is far healthier for all parties concerned not to.

It's not fear inspired speculation. It's just being aware of the consequences of no form of moral upholdings.

If punishment is not a necessity, please explain to me how you would confront somebody who just raped and murdered a young boy/girl. Since punishment is no longer an option, please tell me how you would handle that situation.

This is getting pretty far off-topic. Perhaps I would let god handle it.

I am not going to continue arguing "what if" stuff. Especially since the past few posts are based on one word of a statement I made. This could go on forever.

If death is the ultimate fate of all mankind, doesn't it stand to reason that whatever lies beyond the grave will also be the same for all mankind?
All that matters is what we do here ! What rational reason would there be for a hell or heaven?and if what i profess to believe is true, and all that remains of the dead is the memory of them, how would you want to be remembered? 1255 b.s.

I like to think of God as the Universe. Everything and Anything. Maybe thats why God allows pain. Theirs no distinction between pain pleasure death and birth...it's all just a part of a continually flowing movement or expression. we all know what it feels like to be dead as much as we know what it feels like to be unborn. And perhaps what predicts which conscious body in the universe we perceive from is simply becuase we are NOT alone. I've often wondered why i was placed inside this specific body and the only answer i can come up with was their is no placement of a soul. It is my existance amongst others that makes me who i am and not some one else coupled with the fact we are not connected by our cellular masses, but by communicative proccesses produced by them. Maybe God allows pain becuase it brings us closer together...anyone who has suffered greatly learns a little compassion if not alot...and when we have compassion it brings us together...

And maybe God seems so distant becuase it's like when you have a video tape of yourself when you were 6 or 7 or young or something and you see the wonder and the great distance between the person you were then and the person you have become. It's like God or the universe was or is this unimaginably wonderous being that is too simple to understand...maybe it created us in the sense we became existant the second existance fathomed itself...and then we like the old movie became the eyes with which we watched it...and for a small time get to see a tiny little chunk of this infinitely vast creature this existance this PERCEPTION! These pains...these pleasures...these feelings...these thoughts...these sights...and sounds...and smells...and touch...and wonders...and dreams...and deaths...and births....and everything...it's all always been their and now we get BE IN IT!...

And for every monk or preist their maybe a murderer or rapist...and if their were no monks and preists...the really bad people would be worse and the decent people would be as good as the preists and monks...our distinctions between rights and wrongs are only as outreaching as that which they are compared too...if the ocean was bad what then would you compare it's converse good too? Or if Fire is bad becuase it burns things to then what would you compare it's goodness too? water the ocean perhaps...then though it is quite possible life would not have made it's presence as we know it if it were not for both these elements heat and pressure and steam and cooling...constant changes over and over...we see a motionless object missing the fact it possible contains ZILLIONS of little atoms or whatever we perceive these tinnier portions of existance to be constantly moving so fast they appear motionless and then what if we went further and fouund a tiny little electron and zoomed in further and discovered it had clouds an ocean and a continent resembling africa, but perhaps what it may have looked like 2,000,000 years ago...and then the only thing limiting us from seeing the surface of an atom or electron is our limit in ability to perceive...for our perception is limited by it's ability to perceive...

i dunno i'm rambling, but i don't think God is anything more or less than the limits of our ability to perceive...we can see taste smell hear touch, and then some for the developed abilities of others, but can many of us see out of our neighbors eyes? can we smell a rose as it smells to jack down the street...maybe it smells the same it does to us, but maybe perception is like an element and it just so happens that this element of perception most redily makes itself availble in containers called humans and mamals and such...it's like tea...your most likely to find it in a cup. And the imagine what it would feel like to simultaneously expierence every perception that could ever possibly be perceived forever infintely all at the same time...to see out of every persons eyes on this entire planet to smell every smell...to touch every touch...every sensation...everything all at once, maybe thats God...who knows...

ive always been very confussed about religion and had many questions

if gods so good why do bad things happen
if there is a god why doesnt everyone worship him\her
if adam and ever are real why are thier diffrent races

i was also tghiknig about religion and science and thinking how all these peopl still have faith after science proved many beliefs wrong. even great scientist who made miraculous discoveries would some time not agree wiht thier theory because it went against their belief in god

ive started to think of religion as a sort of brainwashing and form of control of people. i find it amazing how some dude(jesus) could have told all these stories and now millions of people follow rules and worship completly based on what some guy said

also interesting fact- in 144 a gospel was found that was sapposed to be written by jesus himself which said(not exact words)"im am not within halls of wood and stone. lift a rock and you will find me......" i dont remeber the rest but basicly the vaticna called it harasey and refused to think it was real. why becaus e tehn they would be usless and not need for people can worship god anytime an place he is everywhere

Well i can t help you with your first 2 questions but i can with the 3rd. There are different races becasue people evolove to there surrounding ie: people in africa have darker skin because there in the sun wayyy more often then people in europe who didnt need dark skin becasue they werent exposed as much. If that didnt make sence just lemme know and ill try and explain it better.

1.) I'm pretty sure bad things happen because God gave humans free will to think and do on their own. With that said, people are free to harm others, etc. Bad things like a person passing away wouldn't be a bad thing, any one who follows one of the major religions should feel that it would be good thing considering they would go to heaven and spend the rest of forever in peace.

2.) Once again, God gave humans free will, and with that, they worshipped whoever they wanted, even though they of course would be punished according to the Bible and stuff. God gave us the right to sin, pretty much.

3.) Well, there are different races because people spread throughout the world, and as time passed people changed to suit their enviroment. Like someone stated, Africans have darker skin to survive under the sun and heat.

Sorry if any of that doesn't agree with the teachings its supposed to agree with, since I never really went to church, read the Bible, or did anything really religious in a sense of God. Just logical answers, I suppose.

The only time I understood & accepted religion (and God) is on an off topic drug. Probably the only way I ever will. I will say that night was the best Ive had since I was 3.
