Default Where's McCain?

I just logged into marijuana.com from politico.com and my appetite was stuck on the politics of the election campaign-

So, I looked in here, wanting to say that despite having a load of respect, as a soldier, for what the man did for our nation, namely, his duty. (As a soldier, I really hate the fact that he broke and issued those statements in Viet Nam- as a human, I understand that you will do about anything to get torture to stop.)

I just couldn't even consider him for president, it's not a possible choice for me.

Apparently, seeing as how the whole visible spectrum of this forum is showing nearly everyone who is no longer a republican candidate and no one who currently is...

Neither can anyone else.

The old boy ain't got a snowball's chance in Hephaestos forge.....

you couldnt consider him for president because he broke in and gave up information after being tortured for 10 years in one of the worst POW sites in american war history? thats just a little bit ridiculous...

Yeah, in my opinion McCain is fucked. The media loves Obama, and he certainly has the upperhand... elections as good as over in my eyes....

I fully count on Obama to shoot himself in the foot again. He's damaged goods to a big part of America, between his choice of church, hius comments about rural voters and their obession with guns and relgion, his wife's comments about never being proud of America.....Yes, I realize these are nothing more to many people than soundbites that are fairly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but Obama has managed to alienate a decent share of middle america, and I don't believe he has things sealed up by any means, because of it. Unless he woos the middle of the country, and manges to avoid alienating them even further, he still has plenty of work to do before he has things sealed up

I don't think he has it sealed up either, sadly. Long time between now and November. If he doesn't make a major flub and keeps bringing more people into the process to counter act the ones he will lose, he has the best shot of any black man in history of being POTUS.

If he keeps flubbing (flip flopping on public money for example)...We'll get another 70 something white republican male...And haven't we seen enough of them for awhile?

Oh, no, you do me a disservice or I wrote my words badly. Whether or not he broke in Hanoi is a thing I stumbled over, persoanlly- you must understand I was a career combat soldier for America.

It's one of those things you should and do think about, believe me.

I'm disappointed in him for breaking, but I realise I probably would too- It just shocked me that he had.
No, I don't like his policies, actually, see, once I gave him full faith and credit for having been a pow- then came the last few campaigns and his policies and thoughts have become more and more nailed down.

I don't like them, I don't like the way he puts his arguments and I see in him more of the same old bullshit we've had from the neos- even though I am certain he isn't a neo.

As an independant, well, I think I've expressed my opinion of Bob Barr elsewhere, and yes, I won't claim the Libertarian title anymore-

Not voting is not a consideration, I consider it a duty and go willingly.

I DO like the way Obama talks about taking his opponents into his cabinet.
That is one of the things I hated most about George, the way he only allowed yes men and ass kissers near.
How the hell can you consider all options if you only allow the ones you've already decided on to be put on the table?

I hope that helps...

Kelly

Oh- an addendum.

I personally don't give much of a damn about which church they go to, what their pastors say or believe- I'm a pagan and really would be blissful to be unaware of how they believe, completely.
.
Sorry, I only want to hear the words out of their own mouths and I want to look them in the eyes when they say them.

Mc looks like a guy trying to talk me into something I probably won't want if he tells me the whole truth.

Do you really believe that? I only ask because the religious views of politicians often have a lot to do with their perspectives on certain issues (such as, to name a few: abortion, gay marriage, welfare, drugs, the death penalty and so on).

I don't mean that as a generalization or stereotype, it's just the way it is. Religion and politics are inter-connected in the minds of many individuals, including politicans and, yes, even our presidential candidates.

If you're going to vote for a politican based on his political ideology (in other words, what he believes in terms of politics), much of that ideology is going to have a lot to do with what he believes in terms of religion. So if you really don't care what church they go to, what their pastors say or believe, or most importantly, what the candidates themselves believe in, what you're really saying is that you're not only uninterested in much of their political ideology, but also that you're uninterested in how they came to believe in and support said ideology.

And, honestly, if you reach that point, what basis are you using to determine which candidate you support?

Andrews right. That wasn't nice.
The nickname, however, stays.
As for McCain's age? Let me put it another way.
It's not a matter of political persuasion whatsoever.
We need someone fresh. We need to draw from the well, someone new, someone with vigor. Someone with eyes not glazed over with the certainties that have brought us to the brink of inevitable demise.
Whether his colleague across the isle is the one to inspire otherwise remains to be seen, but of the two he's the only one who stands a chance...
