You are putting way too much faith in many female hillary supporters.

Maybe its because I'm from california, but I can't tell you how many people I have met (especially at college) who were voting to "support women" rather than voting for their country.

I think she was an excellent selection. John McCain hit a home run by picking her. She's a conservative and that helps bring back the conservative base. She's very telegenic. She has lots of appeal to soccer moms as she is a mother of 5 and one of her children is handicapped. She has an 80% approval rating in Alaska.
People have said she doesn't have enough experience, well she has more "executive" experience than either Biden or Obama.

Anyways...

-She seems a bit like a "lets combine religion and government" person
-Being pretty isn't a good reason to be VP
-Being a mom isn't a good reason to be VP
-Having a handicapped child isn't a good reason to be VP
-Her having more executive experience than Biden or Obama is a joke. No offense to spiral, but she basically was the governor of a moderate-sized US City, even though it is technically the largest state.

If you think she is a good person, that's fine... but to lie to yourself and think she was chosen for anything more than strategy is just a bit blind, isn't it? Especially when you factor in McCain had only met her a couple times before choosing her to be next-in-line-president. As someone else already stated, she was most likely chosen do to her genitalia rather than her character/experience.

Edit: Just so I don't come off biased, I totally accept the fact that Biden was about strategy as well, and I don't like him either. lol.

John McCain has always put himself out there as a republican maverick and thats what Gov. Palin is.....just 30 years younger.

Honestly, I think picking Palin was a good choice for McCain. It will either be the winning blow or devastation for McCain. If McCain does win, it might actually bring (more) revenue to Alaska. I have mix feelings about this, I like my state pristine, but there is some development I'd like to happen on a small scale (like building a road out of my home, the capital city).

However, I don't like her, not one bit. Being the only Alaskan here, I can tell you now that although the 'statistics' might give Palin an 80-90% approval rating -- she isn't very well liked by all, especially in Juneau. She has high hopes to move the capital to Anchorage. She is a woman who is vehemently anti-abortion, and perhaps worst of all, she is in favor of ANWR drilling. I mean, she is doing a decent job of being Governor, it's just I don't agree with a lot of her politics, and fear her being vice president.

Either way, this makes the election even more historical. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out... She reminds me of Dan Quayle.

They wouldn't be voting to "support women". They'd be voting to support McCain and Republican ideology. Republicans ideology doesn't support equal rights for women, equal pay for the same work, or the right to decide if and when they want to have children. I have a hard time understanding why any woman who thinks for herself and isn't a millionaire would vote for a Republican President.

Again, I'm going to have to disagree with you. They were very vocal about supporting hillary because she is a woman above all else.

I even listened on the radio the other day about some former hillary supporter that refuses to go with obama because he didn't pick a woman as his veep.

Maybe they represent a minority of the US, but it seems to be the majority that I run into.

No... but when I see the list of reasons why Biden was picked by Obama, I don't say to myself "Ah, its because he has a penis"... or "Ah, its because he's _______ (insert some superficial reason)."

When it comes to McCain's pick (and don't get me wrong, I think it was smart as hell to go with her)... the only logical reasons that puts her above all the other potential vp-candidates are completely superficial.

The equal pay issue has been BS from the start. Women don't work as many hours as men so their overall paycheck is lower....their base pay is the same.
And I haven't a clue as to you think Republicans don't support equal rights.

I believe he is talking about the fact that people, such as McCain, don't give women equal respect when it comes to various social aspects. For example, McCain is pro-insurance-covered-viagra, yet he doesn't support insurance covering birth control pills.

Oh, totally... and those people are douches as well. And I would be pointing that out had McCain decided to go with a black vp just to sway black voters.


So, I'm curious, are you a McCain supporter? I honestly don't know one, so it'd be interesting if you were. I have heaps of questions.
