| What is wrong with people today? When McCain stood up to give his speech the second he mentioned Obama the crowd booed so loud he had to wait for them to shut up. Where I live there is an overwhelming number of Obama supporters, Minnesota has pretty much always been blue so it was a safe bet that would happen this time as well (which it did.) What I noticed though is that the local McCain supporters were being rude, inconsiderate, arguing about non-important issues and not having anything to do with reasoning of any kind. Their views were almost "vote McCain or die." Does anyone have any opinion as to why this might have been? I did not see anywhere near as much of this coming from the blue side... DONT GET ME WRONG I know there have been Obama supporters who have been outspoken and unreasonably rude to McCain. There is a post on assination in the Democrat forum and it reminded me of the speeches after Obama was elected. Why can't McCain suuporters, like McCain say "hey, it's not exactly what we had planned but how could it be worse?" You should be able to tell who I voted for. But honestly, I would have been satisfied with either candidate. They differ on important topics but they both differ in ways that are different from the current administration; isn't that what we all REALLY wanted? I am glad to live in MN where I know I wont have to be personally subjected to the racist views and all of the poorly educated arguments against Obama. Yes I am happy with the results, and yes I am being a very steryotypical "winner" by saying "why can't we all just get along?" But why can't people respect the man for doing what he did in the world that we all know exists as ours does? Last edited by 2slo2run : 11-05-2008 at 05:37 PM. |

McCain lost because he underestimated the average intelligence of the American voter. What bothers me is how many were dumb enough to buy into his lies and character assassination. Quote:

| Yeah.... try going to a UGA game... nothing but "Dawgs for Mccain" signs. And what's funny is most of the people around here don't feel that way. Not everyone who lives in the south is retarded. =D |

| To put it bluntly - yes. As a (former) McCain supporter, I was/am obviously a little disappointed that he lost, but I think I'm just as disgusted as any Obama supporter is over the booing during that speech. McCain accepted the outcome like a gentleman, and IMO, anyone who couldn't (such as many in that crowd) is just that - a sore loser. My support for McCain and disappointment in his loss aside - Barack Obama is my President and deserves a proper congratulation for his accomplishment and a gracious welcome.

| I can honestly see where they are coming from. They have been following this for up to 2 years. They have donated money, they have volunteered for his campaign. It's been a long, long road. If I was to put my feet in there shoes, I would be absolutely pissed that night. The thing that got my blood boiling was when the men did shout out hateful things. "MUSLIM!" for example. But I am prepared for that. I've heard such comments every week. But I know, that the majority of people out there voted for him. So hey, who cares?

| [quote=Buzzby;984043]. What bothers me is how many were dumb enough to buy into his lies and character assassination. [quote] ![]() Not everyone who dislikes Obama bought into the whole Muslim/terrorist garbage. Some of us, myself included, simply don't like his particular brand of politics. It bothers me that you'd automatically lable somoen who disagrees with your candidate of choice as "dumb". Just because they don't see things the way you choose to doesn't mean they are lacking in intelligence. There are plenty of valid reasons to be concerned about Obama, IMO, and I don't think any of them have to do with an overall lack of intelligence. By labling McCain supporters as "dumb" you're guilty of the same type of wholesale character assassination you accuse McCain of perpetrating on Obama. I think its damn ignorant to make a comment thats the basic equilvalent of "If you voted for McCain, you must be stupid" I've nbever been quiet in my opposition to Obama, but I never made such wide-reaching remarks like "I can't believe you guys are stupid enough to vote him in" or anything similiar. The election is over, and your candidate came out on top...congrats on that, but please knock off the generalizations about McCain supporters, because not only are they inaccurate, but uncalled for at this point.

| Well I do support Obama but I do agree McCain accepted the defeat gracefully like a true gentleman. It's not that I think McCain would have made a horrible persident but personally I just liked Obama's policies better. The only person that I really couldn't stand in this election was McCain's running mate Sarah Palin. I have respect for McCain and for his service to our country in the military but overall I think Obama was the best man for the job. |

And uncalled for? Nah, last I checked they still represented almost half of the nation, so their view points are still relevant. | |
