Oh well, McCain really wasn't my first choice, but as of now it definitly seems like he's the lesser of three evils (by far).
When I'm looking at that steak on my plate I'm not wondering whether it had a good life or not.
As I listen to Obama, the more I like McCain.

Actually, maybe you shoul;d be Viper....how an animal; is raised affects the quality and taste of the meat. Believe me, you'd be able to tell the difference if your steak was from a 10 yr old cow who was slaughtered because she could no longer produce calves, and a steak from a grass-fed, yearling steer who was raised strictly to eventually become someone's food. The quality in the meat is extreme. An animal put on a starvation ration and abused isn't going to produce meat up to most people's standards

You can tell by looking at the meat if its good or not. Is it well marbled and does it have good color? Stores that sell low quality meat will be weeded out by a free market economy.
PS....maybe thats the kind of meat that goes into dog food.

Well, again, i have to argue that the best meat never sees the shelves of a store. When we have steers butchered for beef, the quality of the meat is far and above what you'd find in the average supermarket. I'd go so far as to say that I've never tasted a store purchased steak comparable in quality to home-raised beef. A bold claim? Damn right it is....but one I welcome anyone to copme to SD and challenge! I think if the packing plants and whatnot could offer beef on par quality wise with what the samll locker plants that butcher for us do, beef would have a much stronger market share. As a cattlerancher, or at least the son of one, it disgusts me what is passed off as "quality beef" in most grocery stores. It may LOOK ok, and it might be what you are used to, but I stand by the assertion theres far superior beef available

Angus cattle are what we raise on our ranch! And yeah, nothing beats an Angus ribeye....aside from possibly an Angus NY Strip steak!

Hey T_42,

Basically I feel the exact same way that you do on all of this. I think the worst mistake this country could make would be electing either Obama or Clinton. I am one who definately wants to keep my gun rights.

I'll be out of the Army in a couple of months and heading back to SW MN to farm with my Grandpa. Of course it's not exactly a ranch like you've got but there is cattle and horses on a really good amount of pasture land.

I got this in an email. I know MoveOn is liberal, but it still doesn't change the facts. Now let me say before I get thrown into a wall by all the McCain supporters that... If McCain IS elected, I'll proudly back him as our U.S. President. Now, I know Obama pastor said 'God damn America', but McCain is backing a man who has said something I think is far worse.

Dear MoveOn member,
Right-wing pastor John Hagee says Katrina was New Orleans' fault. John McCain sought out, and embraces, Hagee's support. MoveOn members are trying to deliver a petition to McCain in New Orleans just a few hours from now: will you sign?
Here's the background: McCain wants America to see him as a compassionate, mainstream politician. So he's going to New Orleans today for a photo-op in the 9th Ward.
But he's still trying to shore up his right-wing base—so this past Sunday, he again welcomed the support of right-wing evangelist John Hagee, who said "Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans."1
MoveOn members in New Orleans have organized an emergency rally outside McCain's event today. With the media looking on, they'll try to deliver our petition asking him to stop pandering to right-wing bigots like Hagee. They'll announce an up-to-the-minute number of signatures, and we'll have a real impact if we can say that hundreds of thousands have signed in only a few hours. Clicking here will add your name:
(Edit: I have removed the link to sighn the Petition on behalf of the McCain Supporters)

The petition reads: "John Hagee continues to blame the people of New Orleans for the catastrophe of Katrina. Senator McCain: If you reject intolerance and bigotry, reject Hagee's political support and stop courting hate-mongers like him."
This is not a gaffe or a "gotcha." Hagee has a history of bigoted comments and he stood by his New Orleans remarks just days ago.2 And McCain's strategy is intentional—he's been working hard to court far-right leaders like Jerry Falwell and John Hagee, despite their hateful views.3 Even when he was pressed about Hagee's hateful views, McCain said he was "glad to have his endorsement."4
Hagee's words matter. Katrina was a terrible reminder of the consequences of bigotry and exclusion. People without resources, without political power, literally sank beneath the waves while our government did nothing.
John McCain is relying for political support on a man who preaches bigotry and exclusion, who spreads the kind of hate that allowed Katrina to become a man-made tragedy. While the media is focused on his New Orleans visit, we need to call him on it.
The more folks who sign the petition in the next few hours, the greater our impact. Clicking here will add your name right now:
http://pol.moveon.org/mccain_pander/o.pl?id=12500-8582723-fo6JfM&t=4 We need to let Senator McCain know that he can't use New Orleans for a photo-op while still courting the political support of hate-mongers like Hagee. New Orleans deserves better and America does, too.
Thank you very much for all you do.

Isn't it funny how people go on and on about Clinton and Obama's characters, when McCain is guilty of the exact same thing? I liked McCain for striking out against these religious fundamentalist nutjobs, calling them agents of intelorance (which is exactly what they are) -- now that he's backpedalling (something he's no stranger to), I guess I have yet another reason to dislike him. I still like him best out of all the other Republican candidates, so at least he has that.

They're all politicians, people. All of them will say just about anything to straddle the fence and maximize their amount of votes. At least we can damage-control, though. Oh, and while people are blasting Obama and Clinton for basically being fake, perhaps they should take a gander at something very real: McCain's hot-tempered history, including calling his wife a trollop and a cunt after she made a light-hearted joke about his baldness.

Majikthise : Straight Talk Excess: John McCain called wife "cunt", "trollop"

Is this really the type of guy you want in charge of the most powerful country in the world? Along with the fact that he wants to waste even more money on bombing/occupying Iran. Yup, that's exactly what we need... more good Americans dying and more billions of dollars getting flushed down the toilet.

"McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt." McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days."

Wow... I hope Korea doesn't make fun of his extreme comb over...

Hmm... Long days? Okay.
