| ![]() Man, I've heard that a lot. Not just this election cycle either, almost all my life. The 60's and the front end of the 70's I heard it a lot from the parents and older: "Equal rights for women are theoretically a good idea, but..." "Civil rights might sound good on paper, but..." "Protesting the war might make you feel good, but..." Not from the generation getting it done that much, though. Granted, there are always those that are going to show their but's, yet I remember hanging out with my brother and his peers, learning about Kent State, not a but in sight. Now I hear it almost daily and from the generation that is supposed to be bringing in the next wave. "We want to protest the war, but first we need to get the correct licenses and they don't want us to protest on a weekday so we don't interfere with traffic flow..." "Yes, Ron Paul is exactly what this country needs, but since he doesn't have a chance to succeed against the status quo, I'm going to lie down and show my belly right now, get it over with." "We could beat this (whatever "this" happens to be), but the Mass Media (or the pharma companies, or big corporations, or halliburton, or the president or just about anybody but each individual themselves) won't help or let us get the truth out there..." What part of "Revolution" don't those folks get? If you are revolting against something, you don't usually get status quo cooperation. It's not like the movies where the underdog always wins in under 3 hours. Sometimes it takes generations to "win" and we stand on the shoulder's of Giants, or so I've heard. Hell, I haven't seen the water hoses and shotguns broken out too much lately, we should consider ourselves blessed compared to the folks that did the heavy lifting 35-40 years ago. I'm probably just showing my age, but [ ] Preston Love Jr. talked about it a bit too. Quote:

| Very good point, Plains. I agree we, as people of America, are quick to talk about change, but when the time comes to actually do something about it, suddenly the support slowly dwindles away. Fuck that....if we want change, we need to make it happen, not talk about how nice it'd be if someone else made it happen. We're quick to complain when things don't go as we see fit, but yet are too passive to make a stand ourselves. I'm as guilty as the next guy, but as I get older, I find myself caring more, and more willing to do somehting about it. I've joined the NRA, and the DPA (Drug Policy Alliance). I actually pay a bit of attention to the world going on around me, rather than blocking out everyhting I'd rather not know. I'll openly admit I've been good at being ignorant for the past 29 years, but I'm trying to change that. Some may call a vote for Ron paul wasted, but as our country goes down the drain further, I'll at least be able to say I voted for REAL change, not simply more of the same with a different face. I don't understand people. They say we need change in the government, that the system is broken. yet, when someone actually proposes an entirely new way of running the country, suddenly he's a radical. Well, fuck it, we NEED a radical. If you don't get one, we'll jkust get the definition of insanity---doing the same things opver and over again, expecting different results. As varied as the candidates views are, none of them have proposed anything drastically differnt than the status quo for the past several years. We need MAJOR changes in this country, especially after GWB has raped the honor right out of being President.

| Man, I'm sick of hearing that too. Oh, well I'd vote for the guy, but he's not going to win anyways. Well yeah, not with that kind of attitude. Ron Paul has my vote, he sure as hell earned it too. He's finally getting MSM attention now with the recent release of his donations (he did something like over $1M in a week). We still have a year left too!

| Well, since you ripped up my post pretty good on buts, what about a question for you: Would you rather have someone like Hillery "let the guv-ment do it all for ya cause ya'll are too dumb to do it yoselfs)" Clinton in the White House? She's have us ALL by the balls. What about $400 haircut man John Edwards. Don't fuck up the environment, yet he spews jet fuel everywhere when going to his "events", and owns 87 SUV's. Or maybe BRAAAAAAC Osama Obama, who is highly suspect ALREADY. He already wants to bomb Iran.... Or maybe Some of the Republicans, who couldn't tell you the dsame "what they are for's" from one week to the next. Me, I'm going Libertarian. Paul isn't the only one who wants drugs leaglized. The Libs want you to have your OWN PERSONAL FREEDOM to choose. THAT'S where I'm going. Damn, I gotta stay off these politics boards... Peace, Old Stoner (one of those guys who did the heavy lifting for you young'uns) |

| I don't really get the question? No I wouldn't want any of those you listed as President. Which is why I won't be voting for any of them. ![]() I also don't want Michael Moore, Wolf Blitzer or Mickey Mouse as President. Ain't voting for any of them, either. ![]() Ron Paul ran for President as a Libertarian back in '88, I believe. ![]() |

| I've registered Libertarian, but I'm gonna have to re-register to vote for Paul.

| I'm gonna reserach some more before I make a decision. I've done a lot on Paul, and would dearly LOVE to see him in the White House, and I hope like hell he gets the write in votes to win. I may vote for him, but then, I'm researching the Libertarians. Geez, the choices get crappier and crappier every folur years... I need a bowl full... |

| The way you are registered doesn't matter here in Georgia, don't know about PA. I am registered as a Dem, but have voted Libertarian AND Republican. I hate to say it (GOD FORGIVE ME) , but I voted for Jimmy Carter first time out at 18 years old. Worst president ever, and HE is FROM Georgia, lol.... |
