Last time people reached unprecedented amounts, starting now people hope to reach something new. It's really cool even if you don't like him, its basically a social experiment.

Edit; That article is rather old, in only hours several million dollars were raised. Amazing.

This article mentions nothing, at least what I saw about the specific record being broken, but I believe it has as Plainsman posted, if anyone has an article, seeing as the record was only broken hours ago, you should post it.

They have a couple options. They can donate it to a charity or try, use it for upcoming elections, or blow it all before that time comes (what most people would do).

I donated $50 yesterday but it was 11 PM and I missed the cutoff since I'm in Arizona.
