The guy in the article who was in charge of the 2001 society died. His useless club may still go on. Like the Elks,The Shriners, the Santa Clause volunteers for the salvage department are still in vogue. You can name Your club anything You want. The Earth has satellites that work this system. They go Around the world, not back ,and forth across it. If the earth where flat, turtles could race over it easier.

I wouldn't call them useless:

I have had family members spend up to a year each in a Shriners Hospital, at absolutely no charge to our family. I am sure other groups should not be classified as "useless" as well. They don't continue just because they are "in vogue". You might want to re-think this statement.

Just because you don't belong to a group and may not understand exactly their purpose is no cause to call them "useless". The Shriners are about as far from useless as a group can get.

Why should it matter if people believe the world is flat? Does it make a difference in your life what they believe?

That's a very good point, I'm not sure if there is a difference between a solid planet and a solar system(not solid) and how they react to gravity.

I decide to reread the wiki page from the original post more closely and sure enough, there is an explanation in there (near the end). If I wasn't to lazy to read all that crap in the first place I would have found the "answer" or atleast their explanation of things.

Sorry there,but there was a period ion there before I got in to the Shriners,even Santa Clauses, for Homeless,and, other non-profit helping societies. the Post was against the useless flat earth bunch.
