| I had a recent encounter with a Ph.D researcher. We talked about evolution, since I was interested in what a biologist understands of what it is and what it isn't. Number one question we need to answer: Is Evolution deterministic, semi determinstic, or it completely random? IE Does evolution have the tendence to always make organisms more complex, does it usually do that? Or is it a simple random generation to more complex to less. I Find the question very interesting as it really has to make us thinkg about causation. It also sinks to the deep foundations of evolutionary biology. The funny part is at this junction, biology is starting to look like philosophy. Right now we see the same thing with physics and quantum mechanics and rectification of the Relativity/QM issue. I am starting to think that we are slowly going from discovers that are very tangible, to far more subjective studies at the core of the world. |
