Ok, so we all know that Marijuana is our friend, and that a lot of the bullcrap that is out there about the negative effects of smoking our beloved plant is just made-up information and falsified studies.

But what I was wondering was this: what are the ACTUAL negative effects of using marijuana? Seeing as one does put a foreign substance into his/her body when [s]he smokes, one would think that there would be SOME negatives involved....

Basically, even though I know that the positives outweigh the negatives, I was just wondering what the negatives actually were! I figured that noone is more knowledgable than those in this forum... so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll tell you the biggest negative in my opinion is that it's illegal. Most of the negatives such as underage use and jail would be solved with legalization and government controls such as those in use with alcohol and tobacco. I know, the juveniles feel they have the right to choose but I definately don't like seeing kids under 18 smoking cigarettes or drinking either. My opinion folks, simply my opnion..........

Why do I feel this way though? It's real simple; every time a child is caught using it puts all users in a bad light. That is something we definately don't need if it's going to make our movement look bad......

As far as negative effects from smoking, until we get some solid research going we'll never know if there are negative effects to our herb or how much positive it can do to help medical marijuana patients. Personal testimonies are great but are looked at by most in a negative lite because the sources are considered to be biased simply because it is against the law...........

Yes, I agree with Dedbr---the negatives of MJ proceed from the illegality of it, the mis-information about its medicinal efficacy, and the violence that is due to the un-regulated commerce in the black market that provides it.

the only effects i've experienced are short term ones like bronchitis and paranoia. long term are more difficult to say due to the mass amounts of biased studies out there.

I have been a habitual user sometimes smoking way more than I should. Like sometimes around 3 or 4 times a day for a couple of years. I really would never run out of bud since I am a hell of an accountant. lol I cannot expect any good out of this though since too much of anything is not good overall. The ONLY thing I could report it has an effect on and not even a huge effect is short term memory. The sad thing is moderating or abstaining really makes this issue a lot less profound. I am happy to report though that I just graduated at 21 without wasting or even dropping a single class. I never even got anything lower than a C in school. So much for all the stereotypes. I am currently on a medication though that has a much worse effect on my short term memory where I draw blanks which really scares me. I haven't smoke so I can rule that out as being a contributing factor. You have to remember that MJ has been around for thousands of years so I believe this may be why our bodies are used to these substances. Also not to forget that smoking anything is potentially bad but it's not like where gonna be around forever anyways. That is just my $ .05

the only ones i've ever experienced were panic attacks,paranoia,short term memory loss...and that's about it.i rarely have panic attacks anymore though.

I'm sure it can't be good for your lungs to smoke it, but eating/vaping it is another story. Quite honestly, I don't know what other side effects there might be, but it doesn't seem unrealistic that there might be other problems.

It's one of the problems when an issue is so highly controversial and politicized. They feed us so much bullshit we can't get the real information anymore.

I've read a lot about panic attacks, but I honestly never had them before.. So.. I dunno, the worst I can think of is the Short Term memory loss...

Paranoia (think it has more to do with the laws then the actual Cannabis but wont know for sure til it is fully legal)

and i hate stupid people now (dea, cops, prohibitionists, etc)

This isn't a side-effect of mj but rather a withdrawal effect that hasn't been mentioned. I personally lose my appetite for a few days when I take a break from the ganja after smoking regularly.

I'd also say that side effects are also reliant on the individual as with any drug. Some people just have different reactions to different things. This is why there should be more studies done.
