| If I'm not mistaken, TV signals wouldn't make it past the systems heliosphere and bow shock intact. I suppose the Voyager probes will find out soon enough, though. If they make it that far without breaking contact anyway. I face palm at knowing what our first impressions would be.

| I'm not exactly sure why traveling through the bow shock would destroy the information content of electromagnetic radiation from television waves. Could you elaborate? |

| Is that graph for real? Seems a bit too simple. |

| Well it's more or less a theory that our broadcasts would get a little scrambled by the outer influences of our star system moving through the galaxy but it's entirely possible those transmissions could still be intact. And the graph is a bit simple but it looks accurate. Radio signals travel around 186,000 miles per second with light being slightly faster. Given that FDR first spoke on tv in 1939, I think, and that Alpha Regulus is roughly 77.5 light years away, the graph is still accurate enough to portray its point. A good find. |
