| Based on the fact that everything has an opposite (positron, electron) stuff and somewhere there is anti-matter for all matter. We must exist elsewhere as complete opposites, only we could never come into contact with the anti-matter because apparently if matter meets anti-matter it explodes. No idea what the basis behind this is something my physics professor told me. |

The vast majority of antimatter has long since been annihilated. I'm really bad at explaining it, so here's a link to explain it.

Antimatter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Next time, before attempting to be "witty" with me, try asking (politely) "What makes you say that?" I'll be more than happy to explain my reasoning on just about every post I make, butI do not take well to... I hate rude people.

![]() And I wasn't being rude. You're making a statement YOU can't back up as you haven't a clue as to whats on the other side of the universe, let alone whats on the other side of our solar system. PS....Wikipedia is considered an unreliable source as anyone can enter data in it. BTW.....I could consider your response to me as also being rude so doesn't that make you as bad as me?

Just like you can't possibly know whats on the other side of the universe or what its made up of. For all you know, the other side could consist of nothing but antimatter and all the matter is on this side. There are so many unknowns out there in the vast cosmos. When you say you know whats out there do you realize how silly that makes you sound? I'm not trying to be rude but you can't possibly know whats on the other side of the universe. Its like saying "There are Maple trees in my back yard therefore there are Maple trees everywhere."

| There is a show on the History Channel that ALL of you should watch. It's called The Universe, and the episode is called, "Astrobiology." It is on right now, but will show again this coming Saturday at 2PM est. It raises a lot of good points. Watch this show, then come back here and debate, and even add your comments on the show. If you really are passionate enough about this to argue about it, then you should watch this particular episode. ![]()

Science is based on the observable universe. Everything in the observable universe is made up of matter, period. Not antimatter. (I made those individual statements because I thought that it needed to be made clear they were not opinion, but facts. Not points to debate, but facts. I'll reitterate, because in my past few posts it's gone above some peoples heads. Facts. You know, like the earth is round. Facts.) We can clearly and definitively say this because we can see and measure the observable universe. We can also say that 1 particle of matter will annihilate itself with 1 particle of antimatter every time they come in contact, releasing unimaginable amounts of energy. So, if antimatter exists out there on a celestial scale (anything roughly the size of a moon or planet) why don't we ever seen any matter antimatter annihilations? If it exists on such a scale, as you're implying it does, and even a moon sized chunk of it made its way into a matter-inhabited part of the universe, the explosion would be large enough to blow (literally blow) a chunk out of a galaxy. We have never seen a "chunkless" galaxy, nor will we. Because antimatter no longer exists on a scale larger than a few particles made during high-energy impacts, and is then immediately annihilated. Please, don't ignore Vicki's post. It might have gotten lost in the jumble between the detractors of real science and myself by the time you read this post, incase it has, it's just one post up... or here's a quote of it. Great episode of the universe. Quote:
