generally i prefer the bong/pipe but a joint has its uses and it's especially suited for portable smoking
as a pot smoker, it's a shame i haven't learned to roll by hand but attempt after attempt just causes me to waste paper, weed and increases my frustration
so i started learning how to use the rolling machine
i was actually relieved when i found that the majority of my girlfriends family also uses a rolling machine since they also wish they could do it by hand
so the first few joints i've done in the rolling machine, maybe it was because i was using a lot, but it was nice, tight and comparable to a cigarette
i've used it roughly 5-7 times and every time it came out perfect

flash forward to last night, i finally have the rolling machine in the comfort of my own home where i can be even more relaxed with crafting the perfect j
well this is probably the step i'm messing up with but i first started with the commercial weed, broke it up really fine since i don't like smoking any wood or hard parts
since this was my own stash, not only was i probably using very dry broken up regular, but probably not a large amount of it (though the joint i rolled a day before with a small amount of moist exotic weed rolled a pretty slim but still tight j)

so last night i'm trying the machine and the first joint to come out was like... really loose
a few others came out, also pretty loose, so i thought maybe i wasn't rolling it in the machine too much before i inserted the paper, but i noticed that a lot of the weed was falling out of the machine this time (more than usual at least, it was also getting stuck to the rollers)
so i've kind've narrowed down that maybe i just need moister weed with little chunks
but i just have one simple question, sometimes while attempting to insert the paper, the other end of the paper came out the same end i inserted it into before i got the paper down enough to lick it
does anyone know what i'm doing wrong when that happens? i think the key to understanding this may help with my dilemma

after the entire incident of about 4 failed joints, i got so frustrated i almost broke the machine and smashed my hand into the floor which is now very swollen and sore
suffice to say, i could've really used that joint after failing to roll it, so i just packed a bowl and the pain kind've went away until the middle of the night when i wanted to sleep and have my hand rest comfortably on the bed at the same time

Yikes. It's okay, take a deep breathe... marijuana isn't meant to frustrate you. I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what your trying to say, sorry, I hope as vague as I am I can still be of help.

Okay, a rolling machine is very simple. If weed is falling out, my only guess is your not packing it in their gently as you put it in, or your simply putting in too much.

Also, I might suggest committing yourself to learning rolling by hand. Trust me, any and all frustration you'll endure will be well worth the sense of accomplishment one acquires from rolling up a perfect cylindrical fatty in a flash with just your hands.

I despise rolling machines. I never could use one properly. I understand your frustration. I roll a much better joint without it, and I've had years of practice to get it right.

anyways to boil down what i was simply trying to ask
why is it sometimes when i insert the paper and begin to roll, the non gummed end of the paper comes out the same end as the gummed end that is sticking out before i lick it

that may sound confusing so.. i'll break it down more
i have the weed in the machine, ready for the paper
i insert the paper and begin to roll
the machine makes a weird noise like its bending the paper a bit
then poof, the end of paper i stuck into the machine originally is now coming out the same slot i stuck it in, with the gummed end still outside of the machine waiting to be licked(had the other end not come out and fooked it up)

i've tried watching the videos of the machine and i've done it right before, i even had a couple of joints work last night it was just they were too loose for some reason
as much as i would like to be able to roll with my hands, i just feel so overwhelmed after all my failed attempts.. it's like it just never gets tight enough
i don't think i'm really meant to be able to roll one by hand, i especially hate when i have a group of people watching me trying to 'teach' me and making noises every time i do something wrong

i especially hate the "taking long" comments during the roll, specifically because i usually get this before i'm even rolling and just breaking up.. that's just how i break up, i take out anything suspiciously like wood and i don't want to be rushed to roll a joint that gets punctured by some stem some farsighted person was too lazy to remove

i'd say i had about as much pot as the guy has tobacco in that video, but for some reason a lot of it got stuck to the rolling rubber material, maybe it was too finely broken up?
i think i'm either messing up by using really ground up dry material, or its the step where i have to insert the paper, because not only does it come out the same slot sometimes but its just so difficult for me to get the paper in there.. maybe i need to get the weed rolled up into more of a joint shape first, when i tried prerolling it before inserting the paper it wasn't really keeping form

I'm not sure what the issue is. Every roller joint I've rolled (and thats been hundreds) either comes out perfectly smokable or TOO tight. I've never had the bottom part of the paper come out like you described, either. I use a grinder to grind my weed, so its quite fine, and if anything, finer weed should make the joint tighter, and not looser. If I grind it TOO fine, it often gets so tight I can barely pull from it.

Yeah, I've always found them pretty easy to use. Like trouble maker said, use a grinder if you have one but don't make it into a powder. It either is too tight and doesn't pull or burns too fast in my opinion as it cherries. If you break into smallish chunks (you can do it by hand if you don't have a grinder but be careful you don't lose too much kief on your fingers) it'll burn a little bit slower while still staying lit.

Oh, and I have pretty much the same design as in the video.

tonight maybe i'll post a video of me trying to use my rolling machine and maybe that will help illustrate what i'm doing wrong
i'm also surprised that so much was falling out of it, usually no matter how packed you see it in videos, they don't usually have crap coming out of every end
i'm thinking maybe it was too dry and that's why it wasn't keeping form when i tried to roll it into the joint shape before inserting the paper
i was using some bud i got last week the other night and it was just kept in a plastic bag, tonight will have fresher regular bud
