| I don't know if its any good but it works well. Anyone ever used one like this before? My friend gave it to me one day, I was at his house and picked up his scale and asked him if his p.o. has seen it yet, he said no then told me I could keep it cause he didn't wanna get caught up for it. So free scale for me, worked out well, the next day I picked up a half o to get rid of for a weekend. ![]() |

| I have seen one similar to it. Any scale can work though as long as you have it calibrated right. Set it to '0.0' and place a nickel on the plate and if it weighs out to '0.5' then you are set.

| A nickel weights 5.0 grams, not 0.5 grams. The US Mint lists its weight as 5.000 grams. That's a simple way to check for accuracy at the low end of the scale's range. To make sure it's accurate throughout its whole range, you need to get a calibration weight as close as possible to the scale's capacity.

| Actually, no. Circulated coins get dirty, gaining weight, or worn, losing weight. The combined errors from a bunch of nickels would add up and not give you an accurate calibration. You can get calibration weights at most places that specialize in scales. They're not expensive. |

| This sounds like a felony waiting to happen. Make sure this never leaves your place of residence. As for the quality of the scale, it is hard to tell just from a picture. My old dealer had one that looked very similar to that one and it was dead accurate. You can buy small blocks that come in set weight to calibrate it if you feel it is off. |
