The latest studies have proven that marijuana smoking does not cause cancer, but what about the rolling paper and it's effects on your lungs. what about hemp rolling paper? anyone want to shed some light on this?

I have no evidence to show it does. Still, you just have to think about it for a moment to realize that there is absolutely the possibility for detrimental health effects using rolling papers....

Rolling papers are made of usually a wood pulp, flax, rice and hemp (or eucalyptus celluose in the case with 'clear papers').

Gum arabic or sucrose (sometimes glycerin/glucose, which gives off the carcinogen, Acrolein, when burnt) is used to seal the joint. Regular rolling papers use Calcium Carbonate to slow down 'the burn' and it puts out harmless Co2.

Almost all papers are bleached and some sort of chemical processing, including chlorine, takes place to make them white (or translucent, which actually uses substantially more bleach/chemicals). Arsenic is in varying levels in all rolling-papers as it naturally occurs in most organic material which grows from soil.

Some companies use (and have been taken to court over) using esparto in their rolling papers. It is a known carcinogen.

That's about all I know on rolling-papers. I haven't seen any study that shows they significantly increase cancer rates, then again, I haven't really looked either. The possibility is there, absolutely....

Then why didn't you say that in the first place? Buzzby's burn was only showing how your post was not contributing anything to the topic whatsoever, making you in turn look stupid.

When I'm not too lazy to go to a headshop downtown, I pickup RAW papers as well. They are unbleached (or use any other chemicals to make them white), leaving one less thing being inhaled into the lungs.

Cigarette papers are almost pure cellulose. The structure of marijuana leaves and buds are made of cellulose as well. Considering that marijuana users are less likely to get lung cancer than people who smoke nothing at all, I don't think you need to worry about your cigarette papers.
