As long as it's not a zippo I don't care. I hate zippos b/c of the nasty taste of lighter fluid and they make my throat sore. Generally though I go for the good ol' bic-mini.

I also like the cheap gas-station ones that you can remove the metal top and play with the adjuster to get a really huge flame. Nice for bong rips.

I don't own any pipes at the moment, if I'm hitting one, it's usually a friend of mine that owns it, and therefore, he'd usually toss me a bic to light it with. However, for joints and blunts, it's my Zippo all the way. Brass case, brushed finish, it lights every goddamn time, wind and cold don't affect it at all, and I've used it to light joints all the way down to -30C. The thing's a beast. You want a kit that you can go anywhere with, regardless of temperature? Zippo, and papers.

Bics have been my standard lighter for as long as I can rember...cheap, widely availble, long lasting, and pretty reliable. For two bucks or less a piece, you can't go wrong IMO. I agree with the zippo being a good lighter, but as your friend said, they are NOT good for weed. Yeah, I've used them if nothing else was availble, but I certainly don't recommend it.

Bny and large though, any lighter the gets the bowl or joint lit is sufficinet for me. I could care less about brand, color, logos, etc as long as I can get high using it.

Personally I like Bics. Right now I have rasta colored bic lighters, and a classic bic has never let me down.
