Buying a new scale

When buying a new scale does it matter how much i spend on it and what exactly should i look for in a new scale. Any suggestions on what scale to buy would be nice and why I should buy it.

look for...
first weight capacity. the more it can weigh the better. something like 350g is common
then how many points past the decimal the scale can go, 0.000 would be best but good luck finding one that isnt expensive
and what kind of batteries it uses AAA batteries are easier to find then little round watch batteries and probably cheaper too
also ask the shop to calibrate it for you in front of you before you buy it
then weigh a nickle on it to check the accuracy. nickle=5g

For bud you really dont need anything more fancy then a 0.0 scale. Maybe a 0.00 to be really specific. But noway you need a scale that goes into the thousanths, unless for chems of course. Also a really good scale make would be a Fuzion or Diable scale. Goodluck!

Pretty much all scales meet those specifications.... does that mean it doesnt really matter what kind of scale i buy?

I would get a 0.00 scale. The best I think is the AMW-100.

That is the scale I have for personal use to make sure I don't get jipped. It is fairly reliable and accurate. Check out the price for it on Amazon. I think I paid less than half of that for it.

I have just bought an American Weigh mentioned above and it is very good and accurate, Its a good deal for sure.

Look for a warranty and a manufacturer you can get in touch with. There are a lot of crappy scales on the market these days.
