Mix n Ball grinders

I was wondering if anyone had one of these grinders. I need to get a new grinder, and I want to make sure I can clean it with ISO alcohol. I have a small Mix n Ball grinder, but I have never cleaned it yet.

What's it made out of? My aluminum Mendo Mulcher does just fine with an occasional iso cleaning. I would think the Mix n Ball would be made out of similar materials.

yeah as long as its not some plastic or wood, iso would work fine.

This is a copy and paste from their website, and they recommend their special cleaner because of the coating.

As always, we coat this Classic Screen Herb Grinder using our genuine toxin-free coating. We strongly recommend to use the Purlizer for cleaning.

I can't find any manufacturer site for Purlizer, or any site but one that even carries it, in a quick Google search. I am left wondering whether they strongly recommend the cleaner because they get a profit on its sale or whether it's a better cleaner than iso.

That's what I was thinking too, but I am concerened about the specific coating they put on their grinders. I don't want to buy a grinder that needs a special cleaner because of that.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the cleaning fluid was mostly Iso in itself.
It's like every company out there. "If you use our conditioner also with our shampoo, it makes it 10x more effective than regular conditioners!"

Personally, I think you'd be fine with some iso.

I have MixnBall grinders, both 2 and 4 pc. and also have some of the Purlizer cleaner. It works well and it's not ISO based-more soap based. A bottle lasts a long time too. ISO works too, just like with any grinder, so you don't have to buy the cleaner. The company does caution not to use any kind of soap other than Purlizer on the MB grinders- something about the coating. ISO's pretty quick and easy, so I'd use that.

I've got different grinder brands, from cheap generics to Space Case, and I find myself using the MixnBalls most often. The coating doesn't scratch. They stay cleaner/less sticky because of the anodized coating, and they're easier to clean. The owner doesn't like o-rings (they do eventually wear), so you don't get a silent grind, but they don't squeak and you're done in seconds, so it's a non-issue for me. The 4 pc. Classic for $30 and the two piece Classic for $16.50 are the best deals IMO. The Double and Triple Screens are nice for the option of choosing your screen mesh size. I think using more than one screen at a time is a waste though.

I must say I am impressed with it, and now I know it is safe for me to clean it with a little ISO.

I went to go order, and they are out of stock.

I was very disappointed because I really need a new big grinder right now, as my old one's threads are stripped. I'm using the Mix n Ball nano for the time being, but it's hard for me to use because of my Arthritis.

I have a Sharpstone grinder that was my 2nd choice, but now I guess I'm gonna make it my first choice, and go ahead and order it later on today.

Vikki do me a favor and go get yourself a coffee grinder, they work GREAT and you only have to push a botton so it's not as hard on your arthritus i hope, im not too familiar on the subject
