Hey guys, just wondering what a screen is. They're on grasscity, and I wanted to know what you use them for?

Screens are placed in pipe or bong bowls in order to keep the weed/ash from being sucked into your mouth. Some pipes are basically unusable without a screen, while others (such as most glass pipes) don't require one. I personally only own a glass pipe and glass bong, so I don't use screens. IMO, screens can affect the flavor of your weed, so I don't use them unless absolutely necessary. Occasionally, I suck a bit of s through my pipe, but its not a big deal

And it also depends on what kind of weed you're using. If you have a whole bunch of crumbs or schwag, they're pretty necessary. Otherwise the bud will usually work without a screen.

Dep[ends of the style of pipe you are using.....I smoke shake all the time through my glass pipe.....as long as its packed properly, you shouldn't have a problem. if you are using an amount so tiny it cannot be packed tightly, then it may become an issue....and why would the be more necessary for schwag? I smoke schwag fairly often, and don't see why this would be a factor at all?

I agree with this.

All you have to do is make sure that when paking a screenlessbowl, make sure you put a larger nug that is bigger than the hole, then you can put weed that is ground.

The thing with schwag is because its so dry (one of the things that makes it schwag) is it crumbles really easily. Its very common (in my and my friends eperience) that schwag ends up a consistency very near flour after a while just from reaching into the bag. This means its far harder to pack and far easier to suck through. Personally I think i am going to get a glass screen for Tiny Toke (link in sig) because I hate sucking ash, no matter how little.
