Glass screens do get clogged, but it's much easier to fix than a metal screen. Just take the screen out, tap the pipe on smoething a few times, then put the screen back in and you're good to go.

Please don't use metal screens in glass pipes, it sorta defeats the whole purpose of a glass pipe, the stone thingy seems okay. But what you should do is this. Don't break up the weed so fine it shoots through the bowl, and stop hitting it like theres no tomorrow. I've sucked the flaming weed ball through once or twice, but I've always been able to see it comin'...

Yeah, just heat up the screen just to kill whatevers on there and then stick it in. If it doenst stick heat up the bowl for a little bit and the resin will get real sticky, that should hold it in place.

I suppose, but the sooner you can get a glass screen the better. Using a metal screen will give you a harsh taste, and i don't think it's to good for you. Better than foil, thats for sure.

Maybe there's something wrong with your smoking technique? Most, if not all, glass pipes I've smoked from do not require a screen. Ususally, the cherry won't be sucked through the bottonm of the pipe once its been smoked out of a few times. I also agree using a metal screen in a glass pipe is kind of redundant. One of the reasons glass is so popular is that it doesn't change the 'flavor" of the weed as its been smoked, like wood or metal pipes do. Using a metal screen in a glass pipe erases this benefit. Either get a glass screen, or a pebble, or something, but please don't use a metal screen. Thats practically glass abuse in my book!

The less metal in the pipe, the better. Some metals are much safer than others, but i think all metal gives off a bit when a flame is put to it. Especially ones from faucets, i'd assume they have deposits from the water that flows through it.

ok I will be the first to say it: metal screens are fine! In my first glass pipe I didnt use a screen at all because it didnt need one. Occasionally weed and cherries got sucked through but it wasn't a huge problem.

Now in my second glass pipe, you definately get ash and cherries sucked through. very nasty. I've never seen a glass screen before so I don't know what they look like and Ive never tried a pebble, but that takes up space in your bowl too, dont forget.
I use a metal screen right now and it is perfectly fine. I haven't really noticed any distinct metal taste and its just a little screen so I doubt it would have too much of a taste, however I will check it out next time I use it.

If you cant get one of those screens a metal one works fine. Also its best if you smoke a couple bowls without any screen to build up resin on the pipe. Then put your screen on and it will stick better.

How do u get one of the screens out of ur facet. I'm curious because I have a stone bowl and cherries are always getting sucked through if u suck to hard.
