I am not sure if anyone here has any experience with Urban Highline (ebay company), but I just ordered their 2.5" Space Metal grinder w/ pollen filter. Any advice for a newb to grinding? I will post pics soon.

How much did it cost you? Youre gonna love the "pollen filter", smoking kif is close to smoking hash; i just got 2 ,4 peice space case grider for 27 pounds or about 50$

problem with the ebay ones

1) not enough holes for the weed to fall through
2) screen may be too thick or too thin for the collection of kief

other than that you will likely enjoy it

yea you should have definately gone w/ the space case brand, you can find them just as cheap as the space metals, apparently, the knock off brands don't have a rubber seal and cause metal flakes.

It was $19 shipped, and had a free 2" wooden grinder with it. It doesn't have the rubber seal, so that may suck. Oh well... that is what I get for being new. I think it will work for now. I am only using it for baking (pardon the pun), so I think I can get some use out of it. I was going to upload some pics, but my card reader is acting up so I have to swap to my laptop b4 I can upload.

looks fine man. Is the top magnitized or not? (im assuming not if it was just 20$) but it looks fine. although the circular hole pattern dosnt seem optimal.

Ok... I have used the grinder to test its efficiency and here are the results.

I placed a pinch of bud on the grinding-side lid (in the center) and put the grinder back together. I turned it for a while clockwise and checked to see how it was going. There was quite a bit of grounds in the collector, and I still had most of the bud left to grind. I screwed everything back together and continued turning for about 5 minutes or so. I checked the collector again and had about a thumb-print sized area of grounds. I had about half of what I started with left of my bud and I put that in my bowl. Next, I sprinkled all of the powdered bud over the packed bowl. After 1 hit, I could tell a difference in my smoke. I finished the bowl (about 10 hits or so) and now I am blitzed! My head feels like it is on a floating balloon that is flying around in the breeze!

The only big problem I noticed with the grinder is this... There was quite a lot of metal flakes in my powder. This really doesn't seem to matter since the screen that the bud is sitting on is metal and it doesn't harm you. I am going to go to the local hardware store and try to find a nylon (or other similar material) gasket to fit over the grinding end to see if that corrects the problem of the metal flakes, but other than that, it worked fairly well for a $19 grinder! Now I am going to go play Tetris in the arcade and enjoy my fucking high! Later.

Personally, the idea of metal "flakes" in my bud would worry me considerably. With a screen, you have a solid mass, and its MEANT to be smoked from. With flakes, you run the possibility of INHALING bits of metal, or vaporizing them during coimbustion, both of which would be VERY BAD. Metal is not something you want in your lungs in ANY form.
