Im just wondering...

do any of you guys burn any in your room/house??

anyone have any experience with the cones?

im trying to get some info here cause the incense i been buying aren't that good.


anyone have a good brand? or are the cones better then the sticks...

Cones or sticks...dosen't really matter to me. I of course have personal preferences....

I like the cones more because they have a larger surface area that is smoldering. This gives off more smoke IMO.

Cones are also more "old skool"

I actually like rope insence or resin insence the best. Get a plate, light up some swiftlite charcoal, drop some Copal resin chunks on it...*SNIFF SNIFF* ahhh!

Insence works to ward off bad energy because negative forces cant "breathe" the smoke.

My favorite that I use all the time is Nag Champa. I also like the green tea incense.
You can get either of these as stick or cone.

Someone on here also mentioned super incense? or something like that which I would like to try.

I like the sticks better, personally.

The cones are alright, but especially toward the end when the fat part of the cone is burning, the smell can be a little strong. Plus, you can't really stamp out the flame too easily, so once they're burning, they're burning 'till the end whether you like it or not.

Just recently I found out they now have an incense powder which can be burned. It looked pretty cool, and they're supposed to burn much cleaner, but the powder was a lot more expensive than regular old incense.

I'll stick with the sticks, myself.

well the main question is..... everytime i burn what i have up here (these sticks)

my dad tells me to put it out cause he's saying it's 2 smokey and smells like shit.

so then he's like what the hell kinda shit you got up there.. he's like ... "when i was a kid my incense smelled great not this smokey bullshit you have here"

lol so then he's like i used to have these pellets or cones that would smell really good.


so my main question is. What flavor actually burns and smells GOOD and not like your burning a piece of wood.

I dont have any favorite sites to buy my stuff from really. I mainly buy all my insence locally. Ebay has some good deals on Nag Champa which is pretty much the "Gold Standard". I love it, I use the essential oil of Nag Champa as colonge

Resin insence burns very clean and has a very unique smell to it.

I'd look into getting a white sage bundle, like this:


It's a great smell. All you need to do is light it, fan it, and then snuff it out. My sage is very personal to me and I don't even like to let other people hold/use it. It's akin to letting someone else wear your underware! It's a tradionally Native American practice (using sage bundles for smudging) but it accomplishes the same tasks as burning a stick or cone.

I also use the rope version of Nag Champa...


This burns cleaner IMO than a stick or cone, and is very durable and packable. It can be taken camping without worry of the sticks breaking or cones breaking. It's basically handmade Tibetan paper infused with the oils and resins that come in the Nag Champa insence.

I would strongly reccommend nagchampa as a starting point, either cones or sticks. I find the sticks better for my circumstances because i have roommates who dont like the whole house to smell like incense, and the cones tend to make a lot more smoke (its also a lot harder to put them out halfway through). Superhit is another awesome one made by the same people. I recently found Golaka Nag Champa, which is in a yellow box, and I think it is my current favorite. Steer clear of most of those novelty incenses, and the 10/$ ones that you pick your own, most of the times those tend to smell like campfire with some perfume thrown in (at least in my experience, although I'v found a few good ones, they are few and far between). Nag Champa, start there, and most of us have never looked back.

ya nag champa stick is what i use. I use it to kinda mask the smell of herb and it works.
