hey everybody, i got a gift certificate to a head/gift shop for christmas (it was intended for the gift part) but i decided after much consideration to get a digital scale. it was 30 bucks and i believe the model is the Equinox 300. it's a slightly unnattractive orange color but it seems to work great and is the perfect size. anybody have any experience with this type of scale?

If that's the only name it has, then I have no idea. It's probably made in China. They pretty much all are these days. But there are good ones and bad ones made there-you need to look for a brand name that has a good rep. If your Equinox 300 craps out on you, I'd look for a My Weigh scale-30 year warranty-#1 brand. Check digitalscale.com for good info and reviews and oldwillknottscales.com for good prices. They've got a My Weigh 200Z (.1g accuracy), which has been replaced by the 300Z, on close-out for $9.90 and $4-6 shipping. I've used 3 different My Weigh scales-bought one, sold it on ebay for what I paid, upgraded to a .01g My Weigh Durascale, and bought one of the 200Z close outs as a Christmas present. Be sure you a get a calibration weight too. They make great scales and have the best warranty available.
