So I've had this on my mind for a good while...

I've been thinking about getting a kif box. But something that confuses me alot is:

Will my bud be less potent if i shake all the trichomes off? Or alot in the kief box? Is the investment really worth it? I mean, I get the best bud in town right now, the crystals and resin glands are just like so thick on the buds, that they seem like they're trying to say hi to you... So I know I'd be able to get a good amount of kif off of my bud. But is buying a kif box really worth it? I'm thinking about buying a shaker that can hold a quarter of weed in the shaking, since I smoke a quarter a week of my own supply. What's everyone's review, what kind of kief box should I get, and anything else I should know or you'd like to add Thank you in advance-----

Perhaps a bit less potent, but not so much that you actually notice it...

Besides, the kief is uber-potent, and you'll notice that, I assure you.

I dont know about kief boxes, but crinders with pollen collectors do not effect the potency of the bud. It only removes the loose trichomes. So if you were to pick up the bud and put it in the pipe, youd lose just as much potency onto your finger as you would a kief box. What kills me is when some guys that I usually dont toke with wont use my grinder because they think it takes potency away from their bud.

So, ur wanna scrape the lil white thingy's off the bud and then havest a good amount of this and then smoke it?...I think I need to research Kif boxes :/

my take on kif boxes, and their use has always been a bit different. With my grinder (has a kif collector/screen), I dono't grind things/put weed in it with the intention of collecting the kif, it just collects the stuff that would otherwise fall off and end up on the table, floor, or onwhatever happens to be below where I'm doing my work.

I don't understand the point in intentionally trying to get crystals off of the weed, because then you really ARE decreasing the potency (even if it is just a little bit) of your current smoke for a future kif smoke, which, although great, you would get just from being a little more patient.

I'm a huge fan of my kif box and I say the same thing each time a new thread emerges about them: get one!

So much better than a grinder imo if you smoke a lot at home and not on the go. And no, as long as you don't shake the box all the trime TRYING to get the trichomes to fall off you'll probably lose LESS crystals than if it were in a plastic baggy in your pocket. It's pretty damn efficient imo.

The boxes arent air tight though.. least mine isn't.. so the downside (if you consider it one).. is dried out bud that makes for harsher hits. Dried out is ideal for me because it means shake.. perfect for a nice, thick bong rip.

As far as brands... no clue. I got my 14x5 inch homemade one for 30 bucks off ebay. It's sick too.

So you have to keep your bud inside the box? you can't take it out? I don't get it.

You could make your own kief box, just a screen and wood box. And it doesn't really affect potency, your losing a lot of kief just by breaking it up, and storing it in a bag.

No, you don't have to keep the bud in the kief box. You can put your bud on the screen, give it a shake to get some kief, then put the bud in a har or baggie or whatever.
