I've never heard of anyone grinding up chunks of paper in a new grinder.... What does this accomplish? Besides making a mess that is...

Why not just wash the grinder? Salt, isopropyl alcohol, hot water, and maybe some soap, rinse again. Use a toothbrush to rub the sidewalls or the teeth to make sure no metal is flaking. Any shavings are surely gone and you have a clean grinder. No need to grind up a bunch of paper, it would probably work though just not very practical imo

hmmm, and sometimes that wont get all the chunks out, they need to be rubbed against and pulled out.

Toothbrushes are designed to remove built up particles, plaque for example. Using it to clean a grinder is very practical and efficient, I guess you'll have to take my word on it since your so set on 'grinding up paper' though...

lol dude does it really matter wich way u do it.
they both work.
but i wouldnt soak my grinder in alcohol.
i would much rather grind chunks of paper so it has something pushing against the teeth and gets everything out, rather then possibly getting shavings in my bud. and i didnt no it was aluminum, i got a steel grinder myself so i dont have much knowledge of aluminum except they arent really reliable from wut i hear.

Your right on one thing, you don't know much. Aluminum grinders are very common and very reliable, aluminum is cheaper than steel (although I have yet to actually see a steel grinder, I'll take your word on it), lighter, easier to produce and the grinders don't rust. Aluminum is also the most abundant metal in the world -- so it's eco friendly too! I have heard of aluminum grinders breaking teeth, but I can only assume one must be grinding up extremely wet buds to have something like that happen.

Yeah, cheap grinders are going to break. Quality aluminum grinders like SpaceCase, TrueBlendz, Mendo Mulcher and the Sharpstone are always praised, but they are a little pricey. I have a Mendo Mulcher and enjoy it very much, been going strong after well over 2 years....

You don't need to apologize. You weren't an ass, we were just discussing grinders, I'm sure you learned something -- thats a good thing, right?.
